Yeah there team doesnt look as strong as it was last year. But atleast with the few starters gone it give a chance 4 the younger players to get some time on the court, Birmingham especially, he has been on the team 4 a few years now and i bet ya he cant wait 2 get on the floor and play his game.
Mapunda was a woodville junior back in U14's - heading back home
the guy from west is leon carvellis (not sure of spelling)

Leapin' leon. Thought he was going to South. The strippers at his 21st were the dirtiest i've evr seen, and that's saying something. I'd like to thank leon and his family for a wonderful evening. Little bit off topic, but...

How embarrasing it must be for Woodville that Steele made the ABA squad

What about Greg Pascoe? He'll be shattered that people here have acknowledged his lifelong love Zane Reeves, yet left him off the list!

He's injured at the moment, I don't know how long for. Maybe a week, maybe a month. He's in rehab now.

Anonymous - Mapunda did not play for Woodville in U14s - you are probably thinking of another Luke, Tedmanson

With the obvious improvement in other sides (eg Southern, South Adelaide, Centrals, Norwood), I sadly have to agree.

I think Woodville may suprise some teams, yes they have a young team but a few of these young guns can ball! they will get there chance this year to show what they got! Against the acadamy they stuck with them even being down by onoly 6 in the last quarter before loosing there legs......great young prospects!

Watch for leon karvelis to have a good year at woodville, assuming he rocks up to training and games sober.....
When he plays drunk he cant even keep his feet..
HAHA, go Geelong July 2004

Look for Zane Reeves to make a larger-than-expected impact this season after last night's impressive academy game

steele is woodville's version of paul rees - a chugga but a workhorse - 1 big body on the boards and in the key way

shouldn't that line up be Ng x 2 ??

I really think woodville's little abl dynasty has gone - they will rebuild now - i would expect them to finish about 7th
Norwood will be big improvers (couldn't get much worse!)
Mavericks - or was that Holmericks will not win 2 in a row
Tigers will consolidate

regarding the woodville women - it's been said before
MERGE
with West women - you will have one lot of kick ass teams
seniors - west's abl team will be finals contenders - but after that they are very average
woodville have 13 junior GIRL'S teams - west 10 = 23 in total
forestville - 25 approx
sturt - 24
south / Norwood 19

who played for woodies in the academy game ?

The merge won't and shouldn't happen. How could you merge the females and not the males? Woodville have plenty of depth in the senior women - 5 or 6 teams I think - Just not many great players. Woodville junior girls are getting stronger each year, mainly in the under 12/14 agegroup.
I don't know much about West - I just know that there is a future ahead for Woodville women without merging.

WWF - Wollongong Style...
Woodville Div 3 mens are in turmoil. Their starting C is a PG, and numerous players that should be playing...are not.
The selection/scouting process just hasn't happened this year. Woodville are not scouting within the club for the talent that they could be using...rather they are picking up people like that dude from West who is unfit and has no game at all, and players that return to a starting spot because they used to play
They are using some of the juniors which is great, but they are being played in an unfamiliar role and only a few of them look comfortable.
(And before you say that their job in mens in different to juniors...they are being played in a different role than they should be in mens)
To summarise, Woodville needs to be harsher with cutting players...nice guys finish last
Peace Im outta here

Anonymous, I'll always be fiercely loyal to the boys in the green n gold, but I have to call it how I see it ..... and anyway, I'm paying a compliment to those guys who have left in the off-season. They did the lion's share of the work - now the young un's have to step up.
All the best to Mark, Gary, Cam, Zane, Greg and anyone I've left out. Will pop in when I'm in town.

Yes we all know how well cheezeburger pops in
No suprises here: excellent post. I don't suppose anyone knows that Woodville lost an aglie, strong 6'8 player a couple of weeks ago? He could of easily played ABA, but instead never got scouted so he played in Division 4. Oh well.

Ben Todd retired at the end of the year to rest his achilles and renovate a house.
Adam Todd played for North Reserves last year. Im not sure why he never cracked the ones. I remember him scoring 20+ on us in the State League when he was still a junior. He would be a good pick up.
