ABC Learning Centres chief executive Eddy Groves and his co-founder wife Le Neve Groves will be immediately leaving all board and management positions of the childcare company.
Former managing director of Colorado Group Rowan Webb has been appointed interim chief executive, effective tomorrow.
A search for a permanent chief executive will commence immediately.
ABC Learning chairman David Ryan said the board and senior management would work closely with Mr Webb to ensure an orderly transition.
"Rowan has the right management and operational expertise to drive improvements in the performance of our core Australia and New Zealand business and will be supported by Peter Trimble, our incoming CFO," Mr Ryan said.
``We are fortunate to have someone of Mr Webb's calibre joining ABC at this time.
"I would like to sincerely thank Eddy and Le Neve for their contributions to the business over 20 years.
Newly appointed chief financial officer Peter Trimble will assume his responsibilities once the 2008 financial accounts are finalised.
General counsel and company secretary Matthew Horton will join the board on an interim basis
