WNBL season launch tomorrow

The WNBL launches their season tomorrow in Sydney with a kids development camp featuring representatives from all ten clubs.

The Australian Defence Force returns as the WNBL's naming rights sponsor and the ABC will be continuing their coverage.

New side Logan Thunder replaces the Christchurch Sirens in the comp.

First game is this Friday Oct 3, featuring the Lightning visiting Sydney.


Who are the teams to beat this season?

The Lightning would certainly be one of the teams to beat in 2009. I heard they handed it to a group of male ABL players on Saturday in a practice game at Wayville.

Will be interesting to see the wnbl this season, knowing next season it will be in a new format...
will be keen to see the lightning, but i think they will miss EP abit....

Good luck to them, hoping to get to a few games this year...

adelaide can match them

sydney will be ok with 2 imports

dandy on the up

bulleen the sleepers - some big names

not much hope for lynx

logan will cellar dwell

townsville will depend on cox - about the same

Our talls wil be good but oh my god the guards are a worry. The only one worth anything is Foley. You cant seriously think that Williams will work? What a laugh!!!!

you cant seriously count out Marino as a guard worth anything!! She may have a lot of haters and she may have soem flaws, however she can match it with majority of the guards in the other clubs and has proven so in WNBL matches, international matches for NZ, ABL etc
