Erin Phillips Returns to Connecticut Sun

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (August 26, 2008) Australian point guard Erin Phillips reported to the Connecticut Sun Tuesday, and will be available to play when the season resumes in Indiana on Thursday.

"I'm glad to have her back," Sun coach Mike Thibault said. "It seems like it's been forever since she's been here. I think she can add some things at both ends of the court for us. She can play a couple of different positions for us. She can defend, she can rebound. She was part of our best winning streak ever so she knows my expectations of what it takes to win here."

Phillips missed the entire 2007 season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee while playing for Adelaide on January 20, 2007. Phillips successfully rehabilitated the knee, but chose to stay back in Australia to train for the Olympics rather than report to Connecticut Sun training camp in April. Phillips helped the Australian National Team earn a Silver Medal in Beijing last week, and is now back with the Sun.

"I can't wait to play," Phillips said Tuesday. "It's been two years since I played for this team and I can't believe I'm here. After two weeks of watching the absolute best basketball in the world, I'm excited to play."

Selected in the second round of the 2005 WNBA Draft, Phillips has played just one season with Connecticut, averaging 5.4 points per game with 80 assists and 73 rebounds in 2006. She appeared in all 34 games, starting the last 13 after Nykesha Sales was sidelined with a sore achilles tendon. Eleven of her starts came during a franchise-record winning streak of 12 games.

"It's been quite some time since she played for us," Sun general manager Chris Sienko said. "I think she is going to give us a great boost as we make a run for the playoffs."

Could anyone help me find a link to watch the WNBA. Especially Connecticut Suns games for my daughter.
Or do they play the games on Foxtel?

Prior to the Olympics you could catch games on ESPN on Fox. Also www.wnba.com tells you when the games are scheduled. Next Connecticut game is 28th Aug (US date). So you'll just have to work out time differences and then lookup when they might be scheduled on Fox. I'm crap at the time difference thing never get it right as to whether they are behind or in front of us.

wnba.com streams games live and has old games on line anytime - just register via the website - free .

wnba games are on ESPN (foxtel) often at short notice so you have to know the wnba schedule and time differences when to look - we were getting the tuesday night games live then repeated later in teh week.

expect more as teh finals approach.

wnba.com will show erin's fist home game (the game after Indiana) at the casino this weekend live

Do u think its bit of a back handed comment by Erin saying spend two weeks "watching" the best basketball in the world. Might be feeling a little dark on how much court time she got??

No Issac, she is generally very arrogant with quite a large head and ego to match. I am sure she was taking a pot shot at Jan.

It is a shame that Erin lacks such class.

Firstly I would like to say thankz to the people who helped me out with the links and how my daughter can catch the games. I really appreciate it.

Now Nire Spillihp you have no idea, do you even know Erin to make that ridiculous remark. Because if you knew her you would know she is the nicest person who takes alot time out for the young junior players and supporters and someone with a big head and ego wouldnt normally give anyone the time of day.
You dont know what class is because ERIN IS ALL CLASS.

Nire Spillihp I think you have a case of jealousy!!!

Erin would have known her place in the Olympic team prior to going away and would not have expected to play much game time. Her time will come in London when current point guard/s will most likely be retired and she also has another 4 years of playing international competition behind her.

I do not see any problem with Erin's comment of watching the best basketball in the world because I am sure they went to watch other games other than the ones the Australian team was playing in!

Rather than giving her crap - give the girl credit where credit is due and wish her luck in the worlds best competition. I hope she does both herself and Australia (South Australia) proud!!!!!
