Great opportunity for Boomers fans to get a preview of upcoming opponents.
We've already established that here Dana: http://hoops.com.au/sa/i.cfm/forumlist/16889/.
I didn't realise you are Lithuanian? Do you support them more than Australia?

Defintely looking forward to this one.
Just a quick, anyone know what happened to Macijauskas? I was looking forward to seeing him play, but then noticed he wasn't in the side....

Well I win either way. If either wins I'm happy. I'm first generation Aussie but Lithuanian in origin. Long time links with bb as well as the Lithuanians in particular. Took Jonas Kazlauskas to Cleland and Casino before 96 Olympics when they had preolympic tour to Aus. Also spent some time with them in Wollongong pre sydney 2000. Managed to have a photo taken with the team. :) My cousin has been on the Litho Olympic Committee (International Relations Director) since 92 and even got me into the athletes village in Sydney.

Lithunians are also keeping their eyes on Australia because of Nilsen who plays there for Lietuvos Rytas. They already have write ups about the Iran game and are keeping an eye on Newley.

'Arvydas Macijauskas will not return to the Lithuania line-up this summer after pulling out of the pre-Olympic squad because of a troublesome back injury.
The shooting guard, who averaged nearly 16 points per game on the Lithuania team that won the 2003 EuroBasket gold medal, last played for his country two years ago at the FIBA World Championship in Japan.'

I'm with you Dana, True Blue Aussie but with Lithuanian origins. Even though I will always want too see the Boomers win I can't see them going too far (especially with Boy Goorj caching). Therefore I support Lithuania in the Olympics. Tonights game will be the one game that everyone must see, could be a battle for top spot in their group.

Thought the body language between the Lithuanian coaches and the Chinese players back in July was a bit average. Almost as though the coach was going through the motions and the players didn't like the idea of having to bring in an external consultant to help their nation.
I think the Boomers could beat Russia, but I'm not so confident about them getting Lithuania. Kleiza and Jasikevicius will be tough to contain.

Tight game so far.
Mills vs Holden could be a good match-up when we meet Russia.

Good game to watch, & a good result for the Boomers I think.
AK47 couldn't make a foul shot (he missed about 10), but he had some impressive blocks & passes.
