Rychart - POTW
NBL Press Release (also sent to me by the 36ers!)
Adelaide 36ers import Dusty Rychart has snared Philips Player of the Week honours for Round 16 of the National Basketball League (NBL) season following a standout pair of performances.
Rychart, who will tomorrow participate for the World team in the McDonald's 2005 NBL All-Star Game in Townsville, averaged 34.0 points, 3.5 assists and an amazing 16.5 rebounds per game during his team's pair of matches in week 16 of the Philips Championship.
The do-it-all 36ers forward opened the week with a spectacular performance in his team's 112-95 loss to the Melbourne Tigers on Wednesday. Despite taking on one of the biggest frontlines in the Philips Championship, Rychart managed to score a game-high 28 points as well as pull in a game-high 22 rebounds.
Rychart then helped his team improve to a 1-1 record for Round 16 of the Philips Championship, scoring 40 points and adding 12 rebounds and six assists as Adelaide upset former ladder leaders Sydney on Friday at the Distinctive Homes Dome, 116-105.
The 197cm American has been in the running for the NBL's weekly honour on numerous occasions this season but this is his first win of 2004/05.
Also making a strong case for the NBL's weekly honours in Round 16 was Wollongong Hawks swingman Glen Saville. The athletic Saville helped his team to a 2-0 record for the round and scored 35 points as well as adding eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in his team's win over Perth. 'Sav' averaged 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.0 steals for the week.
