Big Man Options

A few potential big men for the Sixers.

Not sure of the status of some of these and they may be signed elsewhere but as far as I'm aware all are yet to sign anywhere.

Derek Moore,
Axel Dench,
Andrew Goodwin,
Iona Enosa (not sure if he's NZer or import),
Ed Book (NZer),
Pero Vasiljevic,
David Cooper

Heard a small rumor that we are still after Brad Williams but if an agreement is not met then David Cooper is the next on the sixers list to talk to.

Which is the better one???????

Iona Enosa is a NZer and an absolute monster. I wouldn't be disappointed if we were to sign him. Derek Moore should still be the priority. Doesn't pre season start today ???? Any danger of the Sixers finalising the roster ???

Brad Williams is the better player but Cooper is a centre. I gues if we are not going to get a centre of starting quality ala Moore, Pero Enosa etc then I'd rather the better player in Williams....

Enosa strikes me as having size and potential.

As for Williams vs Cooper, I'd take Cooper. I think that Nash already covers the position Williams would match.

What about Axel Dench. Personally i think he would be great for the sixers. Hes big and can shoot and can play D. Hes agile enough and he would be a great starting centre for us. What are your thoughts?

We DO NOT want Enosa.

This guy has white line fever to the extreme, highlighted in his 3 reports and 2 suspensions last NBL season.

Out of the list of big men Moore, Dench or either of the two kiwis would be a great pick up but I can't see it happening.

Book started for the NZ national team and there has to be a reason he isn't a Breaker.

Moore and Dench seem to be after the dollars in Europe but you can't count either of these two out.

Cooper is a decent role player but I'd still take Pero over him. Has Pero been asked to train with the 36ers during the pre-season?

It has been said before but he probably has the most natural talent out of the remaining big men.

I don't see what the 36ers would lose giving him a go considering they went with Gower all of last season.

If he doesn't listen to Smyth or acts in a non-professional way they could get rid of him after a couple of weeks of training. However, if the coaching staff were to get the best out of him, there is no reason why Pero couldn't be this season's Geordie Cullen.

He definitely has the size and athleticism and I don't see what we'd have to lose by giving him a go.

Considering the attention Maher, Farley and Rychart will get, how can you go wrong putting Pero near the basket to perform the role that Rogers played with Ricky Grace. If he gets it and he's open at least you know he will dunk it.

Pero would have to be good for at least 20 mins a game in a shared role with Rees.

Totally agree Stephon, although I think he'd warrant even more than 20 minutes a game.

Cooper gives very much the same as Pero - they're both tall, lean and athletic. The only major differences are that Pero has a decent jumper, Cooper has no jump-shot to speak of, and Cooper has brains and is coachable. But on a team that already has Maher, Farley, and the likes, their roles wouldn't include shooting j's anyway, so that doesn't matter. However, in Phil's system, having brains does. So, as much as I'd like to see Pero get a go because he's a local boy, I think they'll end up going with Cooper (that is, if they don't sign Brad Williams).

I have just found out from kiwihoops.co.nz that Iona Enosa did in fact play as an import for the Breakers. He is Samoan.

Pero is a hell of a lot more solid physique than Cooper.

Plus he's more aggressive to the rim which is exactly what we need to act as an alternate to Oscar Forman.

And since when could Axel Dench play defense?

Iona Enosa is not a NZer, he is samoan. He lives in Utah with his wife and 4 children and is not playing basketball.
