Awesome article on Gaze.com about the flow on effect of tonight's result. It speaks about how if the Aussie never say die spirit could cause an upset, it could be a massive boost in what people see our league as.

I honestly can't see an upset possible...

Dwight vs Bogut: Ok for the sake of it, we give Bogut the edge

Melo vs Anderson/Wortho: edge Melo; Melo plays in and out on him

LBJ vs Barlow: edge LBJ; Barlow too slow laterally for LBJ

Kobe vs Newley: edge Kobe; arguably best in the world

Bruton vs Kidd: edge Kidd (both old as hell so maybe Paul vs Mills, edge Paul); either too experienced (Kidd) or too skilled (Paul)

Bench: edge USA; you got Wade, D-Will, Bosh...Boozer and Prince as your 12th man?

IF there was such upset, it'll give AUS a boost to some extent but honestly, believe it or not NBL is fairly highly regarded internationally as it is, people here just don't realise it.

What I'd be looking for in this game would be WHO steps up for AUS. This will help AUS in games like Arg where there'll be more a designated go to guy at the end. My prediction is Bogut stepping up simply because he's used to playing with these guys.

Besides, even if the general public didn't see it, don't you think people waking up tomorrow would see the score and say "Holy shit, we beat the US, our league just might be okay". Even if it got another 3000 people interested, surely that is a good thing.
