ABL players are paid.
Salary cap of $15k (i think?). Not all teams pay the full amount, but they can if they want.

I think you might get some sort of payment for time with the Boomers? Not sure of the details though.

i'm confused about how ABL players get paid? Is every player that signs a contract entitled to some pay within the 15,000 salary cap? or do they get paid per game? it is stated that some teams do not pay the full amount of the salary cap but they can if they want? what's the advantages of not paying it?

I'm assuming most of the salary cap is for big import players liuke dusty.

My understanding is some clubs dont have as many junior players and therefore can't pay their ABL players the full amount. The advantages of not paying the full amount also is so that the money can be used around the club for other cost. I remember hearing that usually only the starting five usually get some sort of money, with the best 2 or 3 consuming most of it. Imports would get payed the Maximum. Its obviously a league that people don't play in for financial benefit but rather for playing in the best competition in SA

Furthermore, some get paid an amount for the season, others might get a per-game payment, some might get nothing at all.

Sometimes clubs can use the money made in cash from the bar and canteen to pay above the salary cap.

I know that some ABL teams pay players with things like Halls/Wollacott Tickets or shoe allowances as well as some cash

Laptop computers and non-descript white envelopes with cash as well.

Boomers get $500 a week.
Imports can only play local league if they currently have an NBL contract, so not sure how Rychart managed to get away with playing a few games lately while not being a free agent at the time.
