Support the big guys

All the recognition goes to the smalls in this league. fair enough because it is a small league so lets see who our most dominant bigs are statistically.

Nobody can disagree with Hoban being the most recognisable big in our league however there has been a few sneak under the radar.

Hoban 16 points, 12 boards
Breheny 19 points, 13 rebounds (big surprise)
Puddifoot 17 oints, 10 boards
Reardon 17 points, 10 boards
Oakley 16 points, 11 boards
Lalic 15 points,11 boards
Thompson 15 points, 11 boards
Pilkington 12 points, 12 boards
Hambour 13 points, 11 boards

Some very big numbers in this group from some quality players. Who provides the most for each individuals team? Thoughts....

No surprise with Shane Breheny if you have watched any of his games this season. A real honest, consistent performance. A great team leader.

Its a pity paul smith isn't in that list. Isn't he meant to be like a baby dougie in the making. He's just gotta put the ball in the hole.
Thick legs, thick arms, thick cankles. Only thing not thick about the P Unit is his head.
think u'll c alot more of this thick baby dougie over the next few years.

P-UNIT FOR PRESIDENT!!!

I cannot accept Breheny receiving too much recognition. Sure a solid player, but the Mavs have gone 4-28 in the past 2 years with him playing 40+ minutes per game. I would have doubts whether he would even start for any of the top 5 teams.

why no recognition for the guys playing in the bottom teams? they are playing against the same guys in each team,18 games for the season, playing against the same competetion to get their stats, and if they are playing for a bottom team its likly that there are less stats to go around for the team (points, rebounds etc) thus isnt it harder for a player to acheive a consistantly better stat line when they are from a team that overall wins less games, has fewer points and rebounds and is probably surrounded by players that dont make it as easy to rack up stats by providing ball movement = assists, good boxing out, team defence etc etc, or is it easier for theses guys in bottom teams to rack up the stats as they become more of a focus for their team offensivly in comparsion to thier counterparts from higher placed teams. thooughts?

Bigs

One thing that stands out is that when big guys are mentioned, it is only about 'Points' and 'Rebounds'.

Aren't assists just as important?
Also blocks and steals?

Just a thought.

Guys like Reardon, Oakley, Hambour and Puddifoot would be far more valuable with their passing abilities than some of the others.

I haven't checked the stats on it though.

Well BIGS you are right about who offers what to their respective teams.

Forestivlle:
Oakley 16 points, 11 boards, 21 stls, 29 ass, 43 blks
Hoban 16 pnts, 11 boards, 16 stls, 16 ass, 29 blks

North:
Hambour 13 pnts, 11 boards, 14 stls, 64 ass, 10 blks
Reardon 17 pnts, 10 boards, 39 stls, 65 ass, 22 blks

Norwood:
Cooper 12 pnts, 10 boards,8stls,38 ass,36 blks
Thompson 15 pnts, 10 brds, 6 stls, 23 ass, 8 blks

Rest:
Breheney 19 pnts, 13 brds, 14 stls, 19ass, 21 blks

Combination of all stats (pnts, brds, stls, blks, ass):
1. Reardon=153
2. Oakley=120
3. Hambour=112
4. Cooper=104
5. Hoban=88
6. Breheny=86

In analysis to the stats Rockets bigs seem to be a fair way ahead of the rest of the field. I suppose it shows they are not restricted to the 4 and 5 position. Oakley continuing to dominate and showing class and Hoban a legit 5 man in this league. Cooper not necessarily a big point scorer but still intimidating under the hoop. Maybe Breheny should consider a move to see how his stats would rack up if he played in a championship contender.

Very interesting read on who provides their teams with what aspects on the game. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Reardon and Oakley underdogs for Woolacott!!!

so what you're saying 'support the bigs is' is that whoever gets the most stats wins the MVP. Ah ok i wasn't aware this was a fantasy league.

Even if you are going by stats alone your analysis skills need some serious work. You are adding together averages for two categories and totals for the other three!! For a start use all averages, and then consider a weighting as to the value of each category (eg TSN)
