Nets clear another guard spot = Julius a Net

Nets have sent Wiliams to the Warriors my mail suggest in preparation to give a spot to Julius.

Plan B needs to be fired now by the sixers.

Big call Kent!

Good for Julius if picked up, not so for the sixers

The 10th spot is then up for grabs at the sixers - let's hope the guy who gets it is as exciting as Julius.

Kent, surely it is too early to be calling for sackings. Btw, what role does Plan B currently hold at the Sixers?

"Plan B" - could be a nickname for Brett Maher or Brad Davidson

A good question - what is our plan b when Julius is not available?? I can't believe there has been nothing at all - unofficial or otherwise.

We can forget Newley coming back...that rumour was killed off the other day with his new signing in Greece. So, who's next??

Hodge told the Sixers he would give them an answer by the end of July from memory, so it shouldn't be far off now to getting an answer.

Not necessarily Kent. The Nets had 16 players under contract prior to the Warriors trade. They currently have 15 players under contract. Dooling is still to offical come across in the Orlando trade.

They lost Nachbar to Russia, so the currently Nets roster stands at 15. One more person will need to be culled before Julius can sign.

The Nets depth chart looks like:

PG Harris/Dooling
SG Carter/Hassell/Douglas-Roberts/Ager
SF Simmons/Najera/Hayes/Van Horn
PF Boone/Yi/Williams/Anderson
C Krstic/Brook Lopez/Swift

Van Horn is only a contract, but still counts as rosterspace. Kristic is a free agent. I can't really see any room for Hodge in there.

I am sure the sixers have other options up their sleeve. Afterall - Scott Ninnis has said he has looked at over 100 DVD's of potential candidates. Do you think he would actually name names while other teams like Melbourne are also looking for an import. C'mon guys be patient and show a little faith in the coaching staff!!

My understanding is that once the Summer Leagues are over (end of the week), the Sixers will go to him and say "Are you in or are you out?" and likely give him only a window of a couple of days to decide.

The 6ers should go for a South American player.

I think our plan B should be Cedric Bozeman, it even works with his surname starting with a B. Ok, so realistically it looks likely Bozeman will go to the Tigers, surely his nickname needs to be "Plan B" if he does.

Its too late for plan B. Wollongong are now the beneficiaries of this plan. Joking matters aside, I always wondered what Scott had in mind waiting around this long and leaving very little time for a replacement. Just like the Sixers have waited around for Hodge, I doubt they could have found another decent import and held onto him by a string just in case he was needed.

I'm not concerned at all about a plan B, think about it, when the NBA summerleagues wind up in a few weeks there will be hundreds of players who learn they didn't make the cut and are now looking for a new team, I'm sure Ninnis has a few aces up his sleeve and I've very happy to wait and see what he delivers.

As TR said, I doubt they're clearing roster space just for Julius Hodge, espcially when they have a number of more talented wings still under contract.

Another Hodge article

I get the impression that his NBA career really hinges on the final RMR game tomorrow.

Hodge wouldn't make the final roster.
Every NBA guard has to be able to shoot-Julius can't shoot at all and it is the reason why he wasn't offered an actual contract for next season.
If Hodge had a nice jumper, i'm sure teams would be ALL over him. The guy is a machine, but unfortunetly, NO JUMP SHOT=NO NBA CONTRACT.

Final summer league game for Hodge today.

Got 20 minutes for
4 points (2/5)
1 assist and 3 steals.
No Boards.

Guess we should know next week sometime on his 36ers future.

TB - Bruce Bowen had no jumpshot for years. If you can play a role and fill a need you can get a game. It's the same as a pure shooter who can't play D. Still has value. How did Gaze get a contract?

Ok, well tell me what value Hodge would add to an NBA team. You might say he is a good penetrator, but let's face it, his not going to do anything of that nature in the NBA.
He doesn't have one assest to his game which really stands out.

thedoctor-Bowen plays at Small Forward anyway. The thread title clearly reads 'Nets clear another guard spot' suggesting that if Hodge came in (which i doubt it) he would be a guard.
Point is, there is quite a difference between Bowen and Hodge. First of all Bowen Plays SF, Hodge would play Guard.
As a SF you can get away with having a bad jumper, more than you can if your a guard without a jumper.
