What if every NBA team went 41-41
Seriously...would they even have a procedure to deal with it?

I'm sure Stern would "come up" with something...
Result would be a Lakers Celtics finals....

Head to head series would decide? If tied, the points spread? If tied last seasons results?

can't see how last seasons results would have an impact on the current season.

There are a heap of tie-breakers that would apply - Conference record, Divisional record, H2H record, point spreads, etc, etc, which would be difficult to tie even if everyone went 41-41 due to some teams playing an odd number of games against a number of other teams.
If two teams are in an otherwise-unbreakable tie, they are separated by a coin toss (really - you can look it up).
Don't know off the top of my head if they would draw lots to separate a three(or more)-way unbreakable tie, or employ some other random method, but the result would be the same, Stern would use frozen envelopes, double-headed pennies and/or loaded dice to ensure seedings were in descending order of TV ratings (with sales of merchandise order used as a tie-breaker if required).

I say half court shots knock out style, could be the NBA version of the penalty shoot out.
read the junior by-laws
if youcant split it you then have a coin toss

Were talking NBA not Junior bylaws, surely there is a difference.
Do they go on head to head or pts for/against in a two way tie?

In the event two or more teams are tied in the standings, a series of tiebreakers are applied to determine which team receives the higher seeding.
Two-Team Tiebreaker
1. Better record in head-to-head games
2. Higher winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division)
3. Higher winning percentage in conference games
4. Higher winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference
5. Higher winning percentage against playoff teams in opposite conference
6. Higher point differential between points scored and points allowed
Three-Team Tiebreaker
1. Best head-to-head winning percentage among all teams tied
2. Highest winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division)
3. Highest winning percentage in conference games
4. Highest winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference
5. Highest point differential between points scored and points allowed

In the NFL, if all tiebreakers fail then it ultimately reverts to a coin-toss, but the chances of that happening are basically nil. I assume a similar thing applies in the NBA.

should have mentioned it before - what if the coin keeps landing on its side??

The last coin toss i head of was in the late 60's when the Bucks won Lew Alcindor
Seriously how many decisions in the NBA have ben made by a flip of the coin??
