Sam Mac officially signs with the Tigers

We have all known it for months already, but its finally been made official.

http://linky.com.au/9gu1l

Amazing that a championship winning team can add an MVP from a season ago and possibly improve on both of their imports. If they were to secure Hodge, you would almost close betting on them for another championship.

Anstey
Grizzard
MacKinnon
Hodge
Barlow

Very scary starting five.

If they get Hodge, the Tigers will win the championship easy. That is an amazing starting 5.
And a very BIG lineup

Hodge-6"7
Barlow-6"9
Anstey-7"0
Grizzard-6"8
Sam Mckinnon-6"6

THATS A MASSIVE LINEUP!!

Don't forget to add 7"0 centre Daniel Johnson fresh from College who is tearing up the Big V with averages of 27.3ppg and 9.5 rpg. Great backup to Anstey - they will lose nothing when he steps on court.
They also still have Corletto, Crosswell and Greer. Do they still have Hoare as well to come off the bench???

How do they fit these guys under the salary cap? Maybe this ensures Hodge will go to the 36ers.

Aren't those four playing for $50k but their day jobs working for Cowan McPeake pay $150k?

(Mod: That's better)

What Cowan employees players from his opposition now as well. If that is the case and Sturty has messed up his names - I hope Cowan doesn't go the way of the last person who allegedly has his finger in two pies at once ie Eddie

How is Barlow an 8? He came from Sydney so has no internal discount and he will probably start on the Boomers team.

Extremely dangerous and scary team.

Grizzard will improve and dominate.

thedoctor - I think he signed a two year deal with Melbourne and was an 8 at the time. He was coming off a full knee recon when he signed with Melbourne and hadnt played much of the previous season. Hence his lower rating.

If the NBL let the Tigers get away with a team like that then I am not interested in the NBL this year.

How called the owner feel good about winning a championship when he is clearly spending way above the cap?

This is partly why the NBL is losing franchises and eventually will get to the point of extinction! Teams are spending way above the cap to compete and then they end up going broke!! Its about time the NBL started policing this damn issue before its too late!

It never ceases to amaze just how many ppl make downright nasty comments about teams in the past spending over the caps as though they are so holy, but then do it themselves and turn the other cheek.
I'm not going to sit here and come up with my own bitchy lines- that would make me like some of you but let's just say some of you just officially forfeited the right to bitch about the Bullets by becoming hipocrits.

And there goes the final piece of the salary cap documentation..used as toilet paper by Seamus McPeake.

Anon, by 'you' who are you referring to? What is hypocritical about making 'nasty comments about teams in the past spending over the caps' and then, in this thread, pointing the finger at people who appear to be doing the same thing now? Far from being hypocritical, that is being consistent.

The only people you could say were hypocritical would be Seamus, if he had previously criticised say the Bullets (which I am not aware of him doing), or anyone here defending the Tigers (I can't see any) who had previously criticised the Bullets doing the same thing. I don't get where your anger is coming from (other than that the team you support has been pulled out from under you)?

Nobody here is defending the cap breaking Sixers of the 90's either FWIW.

What a shame to display a magnificent line up like that in front of a meagre 3,000 spectators. Hardly worth spending the money on. Send them all to Adelaide, a lineup like that would fill the Dome with 8000 every game.

I keep saying it, but why isn't Adelaide doing this (paying over and beyond the cap) ??

Probably so they dont lose a bucket load of money and have to be sold or even just cease to exist like Brisbane and Sydney just have

..and lets not forget that the Sixers also went broke. Disguised behind BASA yes, but nevertheless was the major money chewer.

Anon what is your problem Xy covered the feelings of most nbl fans well. I might add it is not mainly about teams going broke it is about the points and salary caps being constantly broken and nbl board doing nothing about it. This is the major problem and never has been a worst case than what Tigers are doing this year in a critical season for nbl .
If anyone is hypocrites it is Tigers spending all this money on players to dominate and play in a pitiful small 3k stadium in the sporting capital of Aust. Either Nbl are going to get serious about promotion of our game to get a minimum of approx. 5 k to games then it can only slide the wrong way as owners and sponsors and tv wont spend their money only big egos like seamus and eddy

I know what you're saying Brett- I agree with every word.
I think what I said was taken out of context somewhat.
What I said is that some love the chance to poop on teams that spent over (like us) and support teams who do the same thing as though the scenarios are somehow different.
Eddy lost his money on the hedge funds in the US- I don't think any of us are savvy enough to secretly know what other owners invest their funds in, so it's different to a club that spends big on it's players THEN goes broke.

I'm convinced that Eddy would've spent, spent, spent if not for his huge losses with hedge funds over ABC.
The Bullets were pocket change compared to what he was raking in and it sadly took 2nd place to other financial priorities.
He even had that unpopular snake JVG who resigned to come back and help sell the team.
Neither were much dedicated to the task since Kemp bailed.
