Rumour: NBL coach to be fired

Word from OzHoops suggests that one or two NBL coaches are to lose their jobs by the weekend.

Now, the obvious contenders to get dumped would be Arsego, Watkins or Molloy (coaches of the bottom three teams). The word is that Arsego is safe until season-end.

Someone is suggesting that it will be Watkins and/or Fisher, with most talk about the latter.

Perth have lost 4 games straight, and despite seeming to have a great atmosphere at home games, the team is 5-5 in Perth.

Realistically, teams with little chance of making the play-offs would be unlikely to dump a coach mid-season (e.g., Taipans or Breakers), but teams still in with a chance, would be getting the attention (Razorbacks, Wildcats).

Previously, the Crocs would've had the worst ratio of wins to talent, but they've won a couple in a row, and could well replace the Wildcats in sixth spot on the ladder. That would likely rule out Stacker as being in trouble.

hmmm interesting - could put a bit more weight to Boti having a regular go at Fisher for not actually doing much caoching and leaving it to the assistants

I'm putting my money on the West Sydney coach going to be the first stood down.

Ingham to take over from Fisher would cover the second instance.

Recently I've wondered if Bolden should be playing for the Pigs.

Also, Watkins calling Horvath mediocre was bad for the confidence of his team and fans.

At least Fisher throwing the sponsors cushion onto the court showed some passion and enthusiasm!

The Ingham /Fisher deal to kme is that Fisher gives the team some profile being an ex Cat in the media whilst Ingham gets the job done.

Last game here Ingham called every time out every sub and drew every play on the white board.

Vlahov knows what he is doing and I think the Cats are about were they should be considering import issue and Burston / Grace being injured.

Word here is that NZ will be going the same way as Newcastle and appointing Hurley. Palmer was mentioned for a quick fix Wisman and Shipway was at the AIS recently. All are friends of Goorjian and he has been contacted for "advice". My scource say that want to appoint an experienced coach who can get the team to play hard and are not "one of the boys". Sounds like the teams flirting with young coaches is over. Same guy, x player at Sydney said they have spoken to Bolden but Plamer the favourite. Barnes also a chance as he lives in Sydney. No money so may go Bolden.

Fisher has the support of the board? OK thats reasurring for him, considering every AFL board that has said that has sacked their coach the next week. Board support=Bye Bye coach.

Jay, I was kind of confused by your post. Can you clarify it for me... Are you saying New Zealand are looking for a new coach or West Sydney??? What's Goorjian got to do with anything as well as Wisman and Shipway, and are you saying that the both of them were recently at the Institute in Canberra???
And Newcastle don't play in this league anymore do you mean Hunter???
That was an extremely confusing post!

Sorry Panther but I thought a South player would understand my bad. Goorjian is the Boomer coach and he was asked his opinion on some old time coaches to take over at NZ. Dont know if Shippy was at the AIS recently but he was at the Boomer camp and Palmer is close to Goorjian. West Sydney will make the change and this guy says probably Bolden because they have no money but Palmer is a chance there and Barry Barnes. Looks like Hurley has opened the door for experienced coaches. Just like Hubie Brown with the NBA. Cairns will make the change sooner then later following the same reasoning as Hawthorn and Bulldogs did here in Vic. Get first shot at the available coaches,

Yes Don was in Canberra last year pre-olympics helping out Brian but he hasn't been approached by any NBL clubs and from what i've been told wouldn't look at doing it.
And what's this "I thought a south player would understand," we don't all speak Swahili, just Agirl!!!

My sourc es have been telling me that all the West Sydney players have seen management since the Watkins outburst, and demanded he goes. Considering these same players got rid of McLeod last year, I think Waco is pretty much a dead man walking.

I dont think Perth PR could survive sacking Fisher after the whole Tucker debacle, and Arsego would have been sacked by now if he was going to go, so I would suggest Molloy could be the other head about to roll.

I reckon Bruce Bolden will be coaching the WS Pigs by the end of the year.
They should be higher on the table and to blast his import like that was LOW Watkins, i hope he makes you eat your words if you get the boot

With stats like he has, I don't think he needs to prove anything, Watkins is just whining because he's a terrible coach.

I hope it is Watkins.
How bad is he ? Ask Clint Reed who top scoRed one game and has not been seen since oR Tim Hudson the top scoReR in the pReseason and a 3 pt specialist who is not put into the game when the situation demands.
OR simply look at him blaming the playeRs. When I saw the headline WATKINS APOLOGISES I thought the finally blasted the officials (includes incompetent bench ) but no he had a go at the top scoReR who Watkins is tRying to make play out at the 3 point line
