Reports are that Jess Mahony has signed with Townsville for next season. Will be dissappointing to see her go. Especially no that camino is out of the line-up and rumours that phillips is looking to europe aswell. Lightning should definately start looking at sam richards!!!

unbelievable that all our good players have to go to europe to earn big bucks. it's about time they were appreciated more in australia and paid what they deserve.
good luck to Jess if that is true she is going to Townsville, hopefully she will get more court time.

Its a business, you cant pay players more if your not able to bring in the revenue from games. Eg. 8000 people turning up to each lightning game is not going to happen every week

I would be keen to know what people think is shelled out in wages for the lightening.
my bet is there is not much change at all from $250,000.
Phillips eg $50k
Gahan = league minimum for import
Whittle not cheap
Camino seriously not cheap
Marino whatever she wants
etc
with the crowd numbers and the sponsorship deal, the owner must be running a really expensive hobby

Vince would definately come out in a loss at the end of a season. Add foley to that- she isnt cheap!
Lol- no doubt all these players were getting paid a heap, and now arent returning. Hopefully they offered jess more than a coke and pie at townsville :-)

Fantastic for Jess and good luck to her. There is no way that she was going to get a contract here for next season. Marino`s did not even want her this year, that only happened because the previous coach pushed for it.

The problem for Jess is that she is a POINT GUARD - not a shoting guard masquerading as a point guard.
Therefore - NO room for her in the Lightning program because she is GOOD.
Good luck Jess - you'll do well in Townsville. You're a gun.
All the best to Jess. If Phillips does head to Europe, that'll leave the point guard spot completely open to Marino! Got to be happy with that :-)

If Phillips does go to Europe, the only people who would be happy would be mummy and daddy.Thats why Jess M.isnt here,and if Marino is the starting point you can forget going back to back.

why don't you go and do something worthwhile.
we all know phillips wont play 4 lightning next season, and that marino will pay out her contract so angela gets to be starting point guard. you're kidding youself if u dont think that.
well done to kristen veal not to sigh with adelaide even tho vicki tried to persuade her to be second in line to angela.
lets hope adelaide dont get anyone else & then the basketball public will realise the marino family is in it fir themselves, not south australian basketball. its about time marino realised that angela is not at wnbl standard as a point guard. and, unfortunately she'll be made a full throughout the season... and that will be all dad's fault.

as if Veal would play 2nd inline to Angela...I'd be insulted if I was Kristen. Veal is one of the best Point Guards in the league...would be fantastic to have her back in Adelaide, but don't blame her for not signing..she is far better than that.
