36ERS vs Bullets tonight

The game tonight is on Fox.

Rucker is out. Williams is in.

What are our chances? TAB has Farley as the favourite for getting the most points.

Brisbane don't have the best home record, and Adelaide don't have a great road record. Adelaide have won 3 straight games in Brisbane.

Will we win?

Don't think we'll win but I'm hoping like hell that we will.

Gerlach is travelling. Can anyone give me an explaination on that one? I was under the impression he was not able to play. Where are the other bench superstars Gower and Hambour???

What was with the blatant Brisbane barracking from the commentators on Fox? I think it was Carfino and Heal.

well clutch errrrrrrrrrrrrr duh shane heal played a number of years with brisbane and derek rucker who was also giving comments played currently plays for brisbane they also talked to leroy loggins ex brisbane champion....i think under the circumstances the comments would be slanted towards brisbane.

i don't think it was bias actually i certainly am not a shane heal fan believing he cost us a medal in sydney 2000 and the chance of winning more games in athens.

however, his commentary i thought was quite good and fair both he and rucker praised adelaide's style of play, he had great things to say about oscar and jacob and he had big wraps for rees, maher, farley and rychart.

in fact it was one of the best commentaries fox has had on offer this season.

heaven forbid but maybe we could get rid of carfino and casey and have gaze, rucker and heal being commentators in the coming seasons.

it certainly couldn't be worse that it has been i certainly didn't miss casey's cliches.

It was also in very poor taste on Foxtel's part to have Derek Rucker commentating for such a long period of time considering it was his team playing. What also irritated me was the lengthy interview with Leroy Loggins when play at a crucial time was happening in the background.

Jay -- you might've missed my other post about this.

NBL club development players can play 8 or 9 road games before they must be contracted. Due to the injuries suffered by 36ERS players, Hambour and Gower had been taken on road trips (and used a couple of times on court) more than usual.

As they were at their limit and the club could not afford to contract them, Gerlach had the opportunity to take one spot. Jason Williams returned from a few games off through injury to regain the other spot.

Great win by the Sixers, shooting 48% from the field, including Rychart (22 points @ 56%), Farley (19 points @ 47%), Forman (16 points @ 86%) and Rees (11 points @ 50%).

Maher had 17 (plus 9 assists) and Holmes had 8 and 8, both shooting in the 30%'s.

I agree with anon re Shane Heal commentating. I thought he was excellent, and being a player not long out of the game, i thought he showed a lot more insight than what you normally get from Carfino. He was very informative, and while he looked a little uncomfortable - which is understandable considering he was on debut, i think it would be great if he was to sit in Carfino's chair in the future. Also, anyone else think Brisbanes last time out, with the game on the line, looked just a little too unorganised for the situation they were in?

I agree - Shane Heal actually did a good job - Carfino however was a shocker - at one stage he said that Brisbane were constructing a play to get US an open three from the corner (or something very similar). Surely he has to give an unbiased commentry on the game.
As for the last time out - the bullets looked like they had no idea what they wanted to do - after Black said his opiece Joey Wright scribbled a couple of x's on the while board and sent them out. For a guy considered to be one of the best in the league I thought it looked liek he was lost!

Well Done Sixers...great game and starting to prove they have got the goods to threaten for the ulitimate prize both at teh Dome and also away from home

I too thought Heal did a great job, even though he was giving a fair bit of Brisbane love in the 4th quarter.

I have actually emailed foxsports [email protected] to complain about how when they were interviewing Leroy, we were missing some vital plays which in the end turned out to be a game turning point. I also mentioned it would have been nice to see an in game interview with someone from Adelaide, perhaps Reesy givin it was his first time playing against Brisbane since returning to us.

Thanks Issac. Indeed i had missed your previous posts regarding this matter. Looking forward to Gerlach hitting the floor in one of these road games...

Steve Carfino commenting at half time that Maher and Reichart had 20pts and Farley 24 pts was a classic (they were the season averages on screen at half time). Steve didn't even notice when Shane Heal commented that it was great that the top three from Adelaide had scored 64 pts and yet the team had only scored 51 pts. I was rolling on the floor!

I don't mind the interviews in the crowd, gives it a bit of a family feel (or something like that). But it should have been in a window in the corner so that the main screen showed the game.

Contrary to a comment above, I enjoyed having the interview with Rucker in the last quarter, particular when Rees hit the 18 footer!

BTW, last night was the first time I'd seen Fox Active. I didn't really do anything except for look at the statistics part, but it was pretty cool.

Still, I think there's a long way to go for interactive telecasts -- already ESPN have good gear in their NBA online Game Update pages -- live box scores, live shot charts, etc. I'd like to see some text commentary added to that -- otherwise you see a star get subbed out after a few minutes and don't know if he's been injured or just pissed off the coach.

The boys are playing so well at the moment and doing their fans proud. There would have to be very little excuse for not going to home games at this point in time to not only show appreciation of what they are doing but also to cheer them on to another win. Well done Sixers, you deserve the championship.

in the dying minutes of brisbane game - willy peeled off a two pointer - only about 2 seconds after the shot clock went off.

And counted....

still it probably made up for brett missing 2 fouls shots late in the game....

i didint mind the call and agree with the ppl on here who feel the same. I loved ruckers reactions when the 36ers hit a tough shot!!! was the look of "FFS" haha...and when one of ours hit a tough shot, i think it was farleys when it looked after the shot clock had expired, they showed joey wright and he mouth 'F**K!! classic!!! yeah, so, didnt mind the commentary plus it was sweeter as we won up there and it would ahve pissed of heal, rucker and loggins!!!
