Rumour: Fisher gone if Perth don't win
Heard a strong rumour that Scott Fisher will not be kept on as coach of the Perth Wildcats next year if the team don't win the championship this time around.
I had already heard that the coaching spot in the West might become vacant, but not that there could be an ultimatum involved.
That's interesting as I had been wondering earlier if Perth could be considered to have overachieved in the last couple of seasons. In my opinion, they probably have, at least slightly. The bench of Robbins, Caporn, Hunt, Dowdell and Garlepp has to be one of the bottom benches in the league.
Prior to Shipp (contributing barely anything) joining the squad, they had Redhage (top-tier import) and Brown (fairly average IMO). Rogers and Loughton give them a lot in the front court, but beside Crawford, there's not much else there. I don't, for example, think they're better "on paper" than Adelaide with Hodge.
Add two imports that top Brown and Shipp and they'll be a very solid side next year assuming none of the better four players leave. Provides a pretty easy entry for a new coach?
Wave goodbye to the imports, let go of Caporn and dump Hunt.
Import/Robbins
Crawford/Import
Redhage/(anything)
Loughton/Dowdell
Rogers/(pinch Vanderjagt from the Crocs, or one of Janev or Cameron?)
