36ers @ Singapore Tonight 10pm

Final Game for the Sixers tonight. Does anyone not think we can get over the line in this one? It would be devasting if we dropped it and yet the Hawks get up.

Sixers by 17 for me.

Hodge to go 36/14/7
Balls to have a quiet one.

Should be an easy win and I reckon you might be right about Hodge and Ballinger.

A few games of note tonight - this one, Hawks hosting the Taipans and the Kings hosting the Breakers (who are fighting for a home final).

I'd like to give two answers, based on the Sixers knowing whether they're still a finals chance:

No chance (ie Taipans win): Sixers by 31

Still in with a shot (ie Taipans lose): Slingers by 2.

(I still subscribe to the 'Good enough to break your heart' theory.)

I've even got the final play: Sixers have the ball, run final play for Copeland who goes for the 3 and the win - and it rims out.

Will just miss the first few games - understatement of the year!

The new NBL.com.au will include an expanded and improved version of the popular live scoring feature for season 2007/08.

Fans will be able to see full boxscores in real time, improved game summaries, shot charts and an expanded play-by-play view.

In order to ensure the live scoring is properly tested in a real game environment and that any issues are identified before it goes live to the public, the first few games of the 2007/08 season will not feature live scoring.

Whilst we realise this may be disappointing to fans, we also understand that a system that doesn't function properly is even more frustrating.

We look forward to launching the new and improved live scoring in the near future.

In that case, we'd still need the Taipans to lose to Townsville in Cairns, or have the Blaze lose to Townsville and us win the points aggregate against Gold Coast.

That loss in Wollongong, when we had Hodge as well, was another one that shouldn't have been a loss.

Not great missing the play-offs, but unearthing Hodge could make for excellent preparation for next season.

True Isaac. That is the reason for my second if only.... There were many games we should have won. The Perth game here is another one when our shots just didn't go in.

Hopefully they can hand on to Balls & Hodge as has been discussed in previous threads. If we cant keep Hodge because of NBA commitments, hopefully he will give a name of someone else who can do the job - like Hawkins did for the Blaze

Hey LJ, lay off the Blaze a little hey???

Apart from the Hawks game Isaac mentioned, your home loss against the Crocs should have been another win, particularly as you had EASY wins over the Kings and Bullets.

Besides, as the 36ers played Blaze three times this year, you would have needed two wins, not one, to get the series win.

Curious, in NBL history, how many teams have won 4 of their last 5 games but failed to qualify for finals?

Conversely, we're probably going to drop our last three, but are still playing next week.

To all sixers fans, bad luck on missing out. At least you never have to battle with NBL live scores again this season!!!

Feel free to jump on and follow the Blaze now as we charge full steam into our finals campaign full of confidence (lowest team score all season tonight).

Actually if we get beaten by the Crocs on Friday, we'll probably have to go back there next Wednesday/Friday for the 5 versus 8 Quarter Final. And in NBL history has any team ever been beaten by the same team twice, at the same venue, within seven days???? I don't think so :-)

But I agree, the league will give it to Draper at this point. kings still have another game and a quiet one by draper would put Hodge back ahead of him.

Thanks a lot EC. No wonder so many others on this site think you're a few rebounds short of a triple-double.

Perhaps Adelaide's elimination from contention caused you to take it out on the nearest target. That's OK. I'm a big boy.

But please, please, please read the posts more carefully before taking aim. As we don't have the benefit of emoticons on this site, I can't place a smiley or two to set up the blog tone.

Thanks doctor for the back-up, praise and taking my comment as it was intended. It's support such as this which makes HOOPS SA such a great place to read and contibute, even if we're not 36er fans.

Who Me?
Years ago

Going to appear a little biased here, but who cares!

In a game where 223 points are scored & 179 FGA's are put up, there are only 27 assists on the 86 made field goals?

That appears to me to be a pretty low % (31.4%)

e.g. 39 assists on 76 made FG's in the Taipans/Hawks, played at a slower pace - only 156 FGA's. (51.3%)
47 assists on 63 made FG's in the Kings/Breakers game from only 151 FGA's. (74.6%)
I mean there was even 31 in Wildcats/Blaze stinker of only 159 points cobined, out of 61 made FG's and a total of only 133 FGA's (very slow pace)(50.8%)

I didn't see the 36ers/Slingers Game, or even stay up to follow the scores, but would be really interested to know whether Hodge could have gotten a few more assists, if the game had been played elsewhere & and could possibly cost him 4 POTW in a row.

(Mod: Interesting case.)
