POTW Hat Trick for Julius Hodge

A dime shy of another triple double was enough to see Hodge take out the NBL player of the week award for the third straight week.
It is the first time such a feat has been accomplished in the League.

Is he one of the best Imports the league has ever seen?

The Hodge must remain with the 36er. He'll help me re-new my season tickets and he'll deliver crowds like the ones we've seen @ home grow since his arrival. We'll see 7000+ if he remains with Balls.

Damn impressive after his first few games. Good job, if they can pull of signing him, that would be something special.

As I mentioned in a post last week, if you exlude his first 2 games, he leads the league in Scoring, Assists & Offensive boards.
I am well and truly on his bandwagon.
The club needs to do everything they can to keep him and from what I hear, they are!

omfg what an achievement, we can only hope that he doesnt get picked up by an NBA team.

Get in a bidding war if you have to. If he brings in 500 extra fans/game, that adds up over the duration of a season and he could virtually pay for himself.

First two games, he just got here off that long flight. Just gets better every game, and you can see can get a even better. At least 500 + extra fans/week.

What vanexel31 said.

Pretty funny to see all the guys who leapt upon him after a couple of games to be eating humble pie now.

I'll be the first to admit I wasn't a fan after the first 2 games. I still think he will struggle to get a nba gig without a decent Jumper.

The best player ever to play in Australia. It's a big call I know, but it's warranted. Has awesome talent and energy. Spend whatever it takes.

Do you think he will get back into NBA, Moses?
( He mentioned played there two years and only needs one more year to qualify for NBA pension. So was keen to do that, then maybe come back here??)
Would be exciting to have him here for a full season.

Atleast Adelaide have a 2 weeks after the grand finals advantage to secure him over rival NBL clubs. If he goes to the NBA it will be disappointing for us but atleast he gets his first preference. If he is snapped up by another NBL club, that would be inexcusable on Adelaide's part for letting him get away. I would say give him a reasonable import salary plus Dench's salary and replace Dench with another development player. With Hodge, Ballinger, Ng and Maher, they can pick up the slack left by Dench. Dodman will have improved a little by next season as well.

Other clubs could start making their advances sneakily soon, if not already.

Also, an offer beyond "reasonable import salary plus Dench's salary" would be more appropriate. The guy would be a very strong MVP candidate. 500 fans/game is worth around $150k over 16 games and he is a big reason for the growth in crowd size.

Indeed. As shallow as it sounds, signing Hodge may make the difference between me renewing my Season ticket or not.

Isn't there a maximum amount that an import can be paid?

I think the cap is $250,000 for one player but do you really think that Brisbane, Melbourne, Cairns and Sydney adhere to that?

200,000.. Adelaide will offer that, no doubt about it, but other clubs will probably cheat the cap and offer alot more.

"As I mentioned in a post last week, if you exlude his first 2 games, he leads the league in Scoring, Assists & Offensive boards."

Even if you include those first 2 games he's still 2nd in scoring, leads assists and offensive boards and is top 10 in total boards.

Dragons is the same team as I have heard along with them looking at Phil. And we know that Hodge loves Phil.

I wonder what sort of odds it would be for him to get 4 in a row?

I big game against the Slingers is certainly not out of the question. In fact I would say more likely than not.

Having won the award also begs the question, should Hodge be included in the NBL 1st team?

For me the team would be...

Williams
Ere
Hodge
Ballinger
Anstey

I suspect Redhage will get the nod ahead of him tho.

Best player to play in Australia? Stephen Jackson got 41 today for Golden State vs Washington. Id say he is by far the best player ever to play in Aus.

Dr BS, Stephen Jackson was only "good" in Australia. Sure, he's almost NBA All-Star quality now, but he wasn't much in the land of Oz.

Camel31, the NBA is about timing. Gun Dad could play NBA if the timing and situation was right. Andrew Gaze could've carved out a full-time NBA career if in the right situation at the right time. But to answer your question about Hodge ..... yes.

They will almost certainly have a crack at Hodge, but it will be Sans-Phil.

Phil is NOT being considered for the Dragons. Nor, I believe has he shown any interest anyway.

It's not surprising to me that the bottom team in the League doesn't even want our current coach!
