Copeland suspended for one game
Hopefully Julius Hodge is available for Wednesday, otherwise we're a little short at SF!
The National Basketball League Tribunal has delivered it ruling on the charge laid against Adelaide 36ers player Lanard Copeland arising from an incident in the third quarter of the 36ers game against the Wollongong Hawks at the WIN Entertainment Centre on Friday 18 January.
Copeland was found guilty of the charge of 'Adopting a Threatening Attitude to an Official' after a telephone hearing by NBL Tribunal Chairman Ken Madsen and has been suspended for one game. Copeland will now miss Adelaide's game against the Melbourne Tigers on Wednesday 23 January while he serves his suspension.
Notes on the penalty from Madsen:
Threatening Attitude to an Official.
Penalty/Penalties
In affixing a penalty, considerable weight was given to Lanard Copeland's long and meritorious contribution to the League over 18 years. While he does push the envelope from time to time, he always seemed to know when to draw the line. In this instance, his behaviour appears to have been well out of character.
Accordingly, the penalty is suspension from the next fixtured game of the Adelaide 36ers.
