LA Lakers Assistant General Manager Ronnie Lester was recently joined by the Lakers Asian scout Gary Boyson in Singapore on Sunday to watch the Slingers host the Cairns Taipans.
The Taipans line-up features indigenous Australian giant Nathan Jawai, who is being touted as a likely first round NBA Draft pick in 2008.
Jawai will have done his chances of being drafted no harm after posting 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the Taipans 99-87 road win over the Slingers.
Lester and Boyson are now set to arrive in Australia on Tuesday, where they are scheduled to watch the Sydney Kings host the South Dragons at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Wednesday night.
Dragons second-year star Joe Ingles is another player who has regularly been on the radar for NBA scouts as a potential future draft pick.
A number of Australian players playing in the US college system are also receiving considerable NBA Draft buzz, including A.J. Ogilvy (Vanderbilt) and Aleks Maric (Nebraska).
