melmeth scores off a missed FT by the pirates for the and one and the pirates start celebrating like they've won the game - which by rights, they really should have.
kings down by 4, if memory serves, length of court, smith 3 pointer - pirates by 1. quick foul by the kings, more pirates FT's, 5 seconds left and kings are down by 3 once more.
the final 5 seconds were some of the most remarkable i've witnessed. took about 7 minutes to complete!
kings go length of the court and smith is hacked in the act of launching a three - has 3 shots. nails the first, crowd goes wild. misses the second, crowd cries, he walks back to half court and checks with goorj who suggests he misses the 3rd on purpose.
smith goes long on the 3rd, 27 players go up for the rebound - out off hunter with 1 second left. kings still down by 2.
bj inbounds to smith who is again hacked going for the 3. ref calls foul but says only 2. crowd goes nuts adn holds its breath at the same time if that's possible. refs confer - smith is awarded 3 shots - crowd goes nuts.
captain courageous then ices all 3 for a one point win and you can imagine the rest from there.
bad luck to the pirates but i love this club's heart
