Hence why SASI chose to go to ECC! 6 hours further away and a much poorer competition.

168603 - they do still go to Albury. By heading to PCS an extra 20 kids and 4 coaches are in the state program. That's gotta be a good thing.

SAC certainly seems to have their stuff together. Nationals gold over the next couple of years could be a possibility.

Both boys & girls teams finished top in their pools, with the girls playing NSW Country & the boys playing the Vics in the Semi's tomorrow.

The boys lucky to finish top after falling to the Vic Bushrangers in their final pool match. Both teams look the goods to take the cups back home.

Girls won the GF by 13 points against Qld South.
Boys went down by 16 against the Vic Country Bushrangers in a tough match.
Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic week - hope you all had a great time too!
Looking forward to seeing more of this from the SA Country camp - another great opportunity for our regionally based basketballers and their coaches!

Not many of the girls are regionally based basketballers and they were developed at district clubs before several went to form a so called super team at mavericks if Im not mistaken.
SAC takes a lot of the credit for the development of players but the reality is their development was done by district clubs.

All of the girls are regionally based.
3 dont play for a District club at all.

SAC don't take all the credit for development - they help to facilitate regionally based athletes (and coaches) to fulfill their goals in basketball at what ever that level may be.

SAC's development and representative programs/pathways can all be found on the SAC website if anyone wants to know more.

I think the only person(s) who can truely claim all the credit to have "developed" these players is the individual players themselves, everyone else plays a part in that process.

The district comp develops the overwhelming number of successfull country players and puts absolutely nothing into the district competition which is both strengthened and weakened by the country players.
It is strengthened by having their presence but that very presence means a good number of metro players are excluded from being developed into Div 1 players.
With the number of contry coaches attached to and dominant in district clubs it may be time for SAC to put teams into the district comp which would allow both metro and country to develop more players.
Both Mavericks and forestville are psuedo country clubs so why not have all the contry kids attached to these two clubs and let them play as country teams as several of their coaches are country coaches.

SAC don't take credit for their overall development.
However, I put this question out there.
What do the district clubs do for the individuals? Many of the kids I have seen come through the program that play district are put into a box to play a certain role, and do not get the chance to explore other aspects of their game. They are very well grounded in structure, but at times lack the ability to read the game naturally. And I sense struggle to play outside of the roles they are in in their Distrcit clubs. What this means is that good five players at district level are moved into three players at state level, but struggle with the skills required at this level.
What SAC have is an ability to get regional coaches to work with those athletes to develop the skills required at the next level, which is something District clubs are not doing for the state players.

Anon, I think you are wrong in your assessment. I think you would find the vast majority of State players are doing individual work with their club coaches or someone else they know, in addition to their club, State and SASI commitments. In fact if you actually looked closely you would be amazed at some of the hours some of these players and coaches are putting in.
