Dragons now bottom of NBL ladder

With the Slingers winning last night against the Hawks and moving to 5-20, the South Dragons' 4-17 record has them at the very bottom of the NBL ladder.

They're 0-5 for their last five and have an eight game losing streak.

Ouch.

Next up, they host the Razorbacks. Anyone like their chances?

It was fun having Heal back in the league (such a great interest story). I hope he enjoys his future as a pariah to all things basketball in Australia.

At seasons end maybe the league can present them with a wooden hammer instead of spoon .

You've got to like the Dragons chances against the Pigs. On paper the Dragons have an above average amount of young Australian talent and should be able to match it with the Pigs. The key is they need more production from Groves if they want to arrest that losing slide. I doubt he would be using any game tapes from this year in future job applications. That said - the real key could be to play defence.

Also i think the fact they are now bottom of the ladder is very significant. Heal has had such a successful career that the situation would be keeping him awake at night. He may see the end is near but he won't lay down and let it happen. I hope that translates into Dragons W's!

The owner of the Dragon's thinks the sun shines out of Shane, that's why he sacked Price (Shane didn't like the bench). So, even though Shane should be sacked as coach don't be surprised if he's still there next season (probably non playing).

Boti lets them know about it in his weekly review of the round..

WHEN do you know you're really travelling poorly?
I mean, really going poorly.
I'd say it's when, after losing eight straight games, you finally get the respite of a bye and a chance to regroup . . . and you drop a further spot on the ladder!
Not only do you drop, but it's to last place!
You know one rung above the ABA.

I noticed though that is says at the top
"BOTI NAGY reviews Round 17 of the 2008-09 Hummer Championship."
A little bit early maybe???

I love this from Boti's review actually.....

while Daniel Joyce played 25 minutes and scored the same amount of points as his dad.

(Brendan, you don't have to call. I know that was a cheap shot. How about this? He scored the same amount of points as his mum?)

As for the Dragons, they are unfortunately (for me anyway) where they belong.

The coach preaches defence but can't play it, preaches selflessness whilst being (at least in the past) one of the more selfish players around, and preaches team where he holds himself above everyone else.

He is quick to put his hand up in the media and say the buck stops with him and then continues to go on about Cortez's lack of defense (Hello, Shane, you rarely even get a hand up to the shooter!!!) and the lack of team unity and application to the Dragons philosophy.

Here's 2 questions for Shane and Mr Cowan......

If none of your 11 other players are getting on board with your philosophy. Is there ANY chance, any at all, that the philosophy could be the problem??????????

If none of your 12 players are getting on board with your idea of team unity.....Is there any chance that your ideas are wrong????????

Some might consider that to be food for thought.

Spot on DICKO.
Surely after so many high pick and rolls (a.k.a THUMB), resulting in poor offence and the lack of ability to stop the opposition (see the many examples of going under the screener), the systems under which they are operating have to be questioned.
