The Dome vs other NBL venues

Was just wondering about the different venues NBL teams play at and couldn't really think of one that matches the dome except for maybe Cairns and The Swamp.

Just thought id get your views on who has the best venue?

The wildcats venue seems to be pretty intimidating from what ive seen on fox games.
Plus the fact that their court announcer really gets the fans into the game, really urges the fans to make some noise and put off the opposing team.

For entertainment value it has to be BCEC (Bullets Stadium) at Southbank. It is a smallish intimate venue and they really put on a show.

The Cage in Melbourne is also a very good stadium with a very raucous crowd at times.

North shore events center is certainly one of the worst venues. Small crowds are normal. The stadium is also very far from the center of auckland, so alot of people dont bother coming.

Max, where is it exactly? I stayed on the North Shore when I was there, but never saw it - do people not bother going because it's a pain getting over the bridge? (Traffic in Auckland is pretty ridiculous.)

Have been impressed by the cats stadium, not as big as the dome, but its full and its LOUD!

Getting out is much worse than the dome, the food etc is about on a par, the seating is also on a par.

Interesting that they also supply a program on every seat for the nights match.

The music man/MC is verrrry annoying and in comparison to the dome where the mc starts off but the crowd carry the noise, perth the mc starts and continues to control the crowd noise, to the point he will get very 'assertive' in pushing the crowd to make noise.

My concern now is that the Dome is a great venue...but too big? watching on fox, it is sad to see so many empty seats and maybe some of the noise and atmoshoere is lost in the space?

Isaac,
North Shore Events centre is located kind of out if the main part of North Shore and is more closer to Takapuna area.

It is sometimes a pain to get there, especially over the bridge as at that time it is peak hour traffic and is a nightmare, but then it depends when you leave to get there.

I come from West Auckland to get to the games and it takes me up to half an hour- 40 mins to get there. It is a long trip but it worht it.

Hey Aims would you prefer the games to be at Waitakeres Trust Stadium.??.That would be closer to you wouldnt it? and i think the Trusts Stadium is certainly newer and nicer. I dont know it's capacity however. I dont get to see the Breakers play because i live in New Plmyouth :(

Hey Max,

Yes Waitakere trusts stadium is much closer to me, and the breakers did use to play there and it was much easier to get to, but the one of the reason the breakers left the stadium was because crowds weren't attending. I don't mind travelling over the shore to support the boys, it just sometimes a hassle. But i'll keep supporting them no matter where they play.
