Fire at Seattle's KeyArena
A fire ignited inside the scoreboard at KeyArena during the first quarter of Sunday's game, causing a delay. An arena official noticed the flame near the jumbotron and informed team officials, who then told NBA security, whom informed the game officials during a timeout with seven minutes left in the first period.
The scoreboard needed to be lowered and the flame extinguished, but not without a member of the Seattle Fire Department and several arena officials. Smoke was rising to the top of the scoreboard and a burning smell quickly spread throughout the arena. The Fire Department removed a faulty light fixture, which was smoking.
The teams had a four-minute warmup period before resuming the game.
Anyone know if this has happened before?
