Game Preview: Slingers vs 36ers
In New Zealand, the Slingers pushed to an early lead and will no doubt attempt the same in the familiar humidity of their home environment.
Adelaide's Davidson played with Singapore just last season and will have valuable advice for coach Phil Smyth and the rest of the team as to how best to handle the Slingers' tactics.

I wrote on OzHoops that I think that the 36ers can cover better for Maher than they can for Davidson, and that's not saying that Maher isn't the better of the two. Everyone at the Dome saw how much better the 36ers were with Davidson back in the line-up and I reckon he holds everything together. Supposedly our defense was good in Perth also, the game Davidson played prior to the last home game.
If he can handle Helms and everyone else does their job, I reckon Adelaide can win this. None of their other guards are name players and Ng, Copeland and Sutton should do just fine. Dench has been useful in past games, but played just three minutes against NZ and our frontcourt matches that of the Slingers (Knight, Janev, Cameron, Donaldson vs Ballinger, Mottram, Cooper) though they have 3/4 that can hit from range.
The X-Factor here is Grizzard vs Chappell. Grizzard may exploit Chappell a bit on defense, but if Chappell can step up and score, they'll take each other out of the equation. The season to date allows anyone to be a skeptic, but at some stage, if the side is serious, Chappell has to be playing for his job?
Adelaide are underdogs with the bookies but really can win this, with or without Maher. Singapore are two imports, Ben Knight and then drop off dramatically. Janev is OK, but the others are SEABLers going hard.
I think Grizzard will lead their scoring, while Ballinger and Ng will be best for us.
