Year 8 and 9/10 Knockout Finals

It's funny to see that there are 4 yr 10 KO threads with 296 replies, and 3 yr 8 KO threads with 30 replies, all with recent replies including predictions for finals. Yet since Thursday and Fridays finals noone has posted a thing. It kind of shows who the people that post on here are - noone wants to post about a loss....
Unley High were dominant over the two days. Not only were they the only school with a team in all four comps, but all four teams reached the grand final, with the 9/10 boys, 9/10 girls and year 8 boys taking the title.

9/10 girls - Unley were very comfortable all day, a real balanced team that defeated Cabra in the final.

9/10 boys - A real close comp with some quality games. Cabra, Sacred Heart, Unley and St Pauls were all capable of winning. Unley won the games that mattered however, the final a thrilling overtime win against Cabra.

8 boys - Final between Unley and Tenison Woods, who were clearly the best teams having comfortable semis. Their group game was a one point win to TW, and the final was a close encounter with Unley prevailing in a low scoring game.

8 girls - Kadina were clearly the best team on the day and were never really significantly challenged. The story of the day had to be Unley, who with only 2 stars and 7 novices pulled off a stunning upset of Cabra in the semi. Coach Beaumont completely outcoached his Cabra counterpart.

Overall, an incredible achievement by Unley. Huge congratulations to them.

Thoughts on the day?

Such a good day, Unley were so tired and sore, with injuries on players and the team getting slightly frusted, satisfying win.

Peace.

P.S.
Great Coaching Shortty

"Not fron Unley are you.........."
he was simply posting results just like MJ has been through-out the whole compitition, so why is it when Unley wins that its wrong to be posting them

Because it has an Unley slant for all the results, even when Kadina won the yr8 girls Unley has the big 'result' of wining the semi. Cheers for posting the results but perhaps an all or nothing approach is need to be taken when discussing the results of the day.

but that was a big result and kadina were expected to win from the start...they are an absolute powerhouse in the girls competition.

Just annoys me that the results arent allowed to be posted, and the biggest story of the day possibly (Unleys year 8 girls) is simply taken as...oh some bloke from unley has come on and talking up his school..

especially when no one can actually acknowledge how good Unley were in the tournaments...the hottest topic in the last few months on Hoops SA became the least hottest after the competition had its champions...and that reason is becasue Unley won...those people that post their predictions (cabra/sacred heart people) saying 'got in the bag baby etc' - shit like that - dont wanna come on and say unley have won...too much pride and ego

None of the results were surprising given that school knock out like district is such a skewed competition. While you can't fix school knock outs , its about time someone tried to level out the talent at district level because its at farce stage.
At best there are 3 or 4 teams in each age group in Div 1 and 6 or 7 passenger teams with no bearing on results.
Kids continue to flock to these top three or 4 clubs and the comp gets weaker and weaker.

I reckon if the Murray Bridge UNITY BOYZ Yr 9/10 team played they would tear the comp to pieces, and all the city teams know it!!!!!

If it was a true comp a certain country school would take it out from a certain SASI scout
