36ers Rebounding?

Did anyone else happen to look at the rebounding stats from the New Zealand match? The totals were 50 to NZ and 30 to Adelaide. Looking a bit further, Ballinger had 8, followed by Davidson and Maher with 6 and 5 respectively. Credit to our guards for getting on the boards, but surely it's time to tell the big guys to pull their fingers out?! Ballinger had a great all round game, but for Cooper, Mottram, Dench and Chappell to have 8 between them is a disgrace! No wonder we struggle defensively, even when the other teams miss we don't get it back!

It was actually 56-41 going by the boxscore rather than the NBL's live stats (which don't include team rebounds).

Dench barely played, so go easy on him this time.

I was surprised to see us out-rebounded to that extent given how poorly they shot.

Granted that Dench hardly hit the court, but wasn't that because he's not performing as we'd hope him to?

I think it's just as much about not needing to run him, Mottram and Coops every game. Bit hard to judge him on three minutes too though.

Danger is that players can get frustrated with inconsistent minutes.

Didn't notice any glaring rebounding issues during the game. Rickert is a very strong rebounder (witness three consecutive O-boards against 2-3 Brisbane players last week), plus they have Vukona and are about fourth in the league in rebounding (Adelaide are about 8-9th).

Our defensive rebounds are obviously going to be down as a result of their high turnover count as each turnover represents one less chance at a board.

Still it would have been nice to get a couple of more offensive boards.

Dench in his 3 mins was a disgrace, it was no wonder he hardly played has he really couldn't have done much more wrong in his time on court. Every time he got the ball he stagnated the offence and it would usually result in a turnover. Add to that the fact he doesn't play D or rebound and you have another useless player the sixers are wasting their time on. I'm glad we only saw him for 3 mins and hope it stays that way for the rest of the season.
