I love this guy. I just joined the "I Want to Party With Ben Cousins" group on Facebook.

Do you think he went shirtless just because he knew he was being photographed? Or there was some actual reason for being semi-naked at midday?

He was just sculpting his guns as he has very little time to get the gym.

If i had a rig like his, i wouldn't wear a shirt either. He's on holidays until pre-season starts, he's got loads of cash and one of the biggest magnets in this country.

There were rumours a few weeks back that he was going to retire - if he get's 'done' for something, will the AFL rip up his contract?

This boy has serious issues - after carry the coffin of his mate out of the funeral has he learnt nothing of what his current behaviour can result in! Wake up you clown! What a wasted life and oh by the way how do you think that "rig" came from? Not Nana's cooking me thinks.

It's clearly time to stick a camera crew with him 24/7 and make the best god damn reality TV show Australia, and maybe the world, has ever seen.

Cover his costs (which will be massive) and let him run free. It would also provide at least half the material for Australia's Funniest Home Videos, therefore I propose Ch 9 fund the show because they may save money in the long run on the cost of both shows.

Late this afternoon, WA Police issued a statement claiming Cousins had refused to provide a blood sample for analysis after he was pulled over while driving his car in Northbridge.

During the traffic stop, police allegedly found an amount of a prohibited drug.

Apparently he has now been charged with possesion and also for refussing a saliva and blood test - Perthnow has the story online

Certainly not looking good for his future in footy

Doc, love the TV show idea - would make the Osbournes look tame and Isaac - care to forward the mail you mentioned?

i feel for this guy... if he is doing drugs and is still this god damn good then ... its his choice . If drugs aren't affecting his ability to do his job ( play football)then let him do whatever he wants... I think many know also the drugs aren't only in the WCE, but also used by star players within a certain Adelaide based football team .. and most likely is every other club in the afl.

Somehow I dont think the club's sponsors would agree with you. You are somewhat right but money talks and sponsors care about ROI not how good a team is. I hardly think that sponsors will want to spend their money with a club associated with these issues.

That scene we traded emails about now seems so much more likely to be true. Man, his show would rate through the roof. Pitch it in direct competition with The Chaser/Kath and Kim and it would win.

Not sure if it's a good idea. It's fourth-hand info that I can't confirm the accuracy of. Let's just say it encouraged me to join the "I Want to Part With Ben Cousins" group on Facebook.

#152886 - You know how millions of young kids watch AFL? Do you really want them to have a drug cheat as an idol?

Secondly, has anyone thought that maybe he was clean until the death of his best friend and that that major event resulted in him relapsing? It seems to me that dealing with a death so soon after rehab and the disappointing end to his AFL season may have resulted in him going backwards. Not to excuse him, but it can be understood. He needs major support from professionals re the drugs and needs to get out of the limelight for a while.

agreed anon.

At the end of the day, the guy is still a human.
He may have been devastated over Chris' death and that is all the excuse your brain needs when you are recovering from addiction. Pity, because his family seem to have given him a lot of support through all of this.

Just have to hope he does not go right off the deep end now when all of this situation becomes clear, and Ben realises just what he has done to his career and life in general.

Hopefully West Coast put some off field procedures in place to help him out, whether he is delisted or not.

Not sure if West Coast have any responsibility to him from this point. They have gone out of their way to help and it's rumoured they paid for all the re-hab along with the AFL which was in the order of $20K per day.

It's a family issue now. The Eagles have to delist him now, cut all ties and let him get help alone. If they continue to support him the club will suffer greatly. The club has a greater responsibility to the rest of the players, the fans and sponsors. They have to draw the line somewhere - Cousins made it easy for them to do it right now.

The ABC have reported that the prohibited drug is believed to be vallium - Yup outraged joe and jill public .... "mother's little helper". Looks like my mum is going to have to give up hope of ever playing AFL.

The "goods" had better be something more substantial than packing V and refusing a test come court time.

Approached the start line and then dozed off - Did 15.5 in her dreams.
Also dreamt 45 possessions with 20 hard ball gets, 12 contested marks for 5 goals 1. Out pressed Fraser Gerhig straight after that match.
Sank 50 beers with the Train and Vossy before carrying both of them home. Fronted up to training the next day, blew clean and trained the house down.

did anyone notice they quoted trace elements of coke, MDMA and speed on a $20 note as part of the "evidence". The lawyers will have a field day with that one.

Has anyone seen that email about the % of all money in the US that has cocaine traces on it? Not sure how accurate it is, but the suggestion is that everyone handles money with coke traces on it - doesn't go even close to proving anything.

Trace of coke on the note reminds me of a bit from a Richard Dawkins speech:

Every time you drink a glass of water, you are probably imbibing at least one atom that passed through the bladder of Aristotle. A tantalisingly surprising result, but it follows by Huxley-style organized common sense from Wolpert's observation that "there are many more molecules in a glass of water than there are glasses of water in the sea".
Last line is a bit of a boggler, IMO.

If a $20 note with a positive swab is all the are going on then good luck that lads... I'd hate to get in the box on that...

If that's the case, may has well lock up all the politicians in Parliament House as traces of coke have been found in the bathrooms there as well.

"Spruiking his diaries on Triple J last week, 44-year-old former Labor leader Mark Latham revealed he smoked marijuana in Parliament House with journalists. "The pollies are just in the conga-line of choofers."

He also alleged that Labor MP Lindsay Tanner "was such a serious choofer at Melbourne Uni that it spun his head right out".

A Sydney newspaper this year used drug-testing wipes in toilets across Sydney as well as restaurants, bars, a referee's change room and inside NSW Parliament House. It found traces of cocaine, opiates and marijuana.

This month, three RAAF aircrew who fly the Prime Minister's jet were dismissed for "recreational" drug use."

Unfortunately, Cousin's case is not a single example of proceeding with criminal charges without sufficient evidence and making public details of allegations unsupported by legal evidence. In Queensland, Vincent Berg's and some other cases are not less alarming. It seems that the rule of law and respect to legal evidence and individual human rights such as presumption of innocence and privacy are in danger of being replaced by "witch hunt" practices.
