6ers vs Melb

1st quarter analysis :

we are getting thumped on the boards (17-10).
also in foul trouble already with the big men...jacob, oscar and coops all on 2 fouls each.

Maher and Rychart on fire early, Dusty has 11, Maher 8 with 4 assists.

Dave Thomas has 11 for Melbourne.

Down 79-78 at 3qtr time. With townsville blowing out wollongong, this is a huge chance for us to go equal second! Need a huge fourth quarter

Official sixers site, comments were 'We played like crap' commenting on that 3rd qtr, nice job fellas, real good language to describe the team on your own official SITE!

Just checked that site again like 10seconds after seeing that comment, and they've already changed there comments to bad qrt by sixers.

It's a worry that they can't seem to make the away games. Its an issue that needs to be addressed to see where the problem is and if the problem can be overcome. We all know how brilliantly they can play at home but what's stopping them from taking those skills away with them? To have a chance at the championship, we need to be able to win some away from home games.

I honestly thought that this was a "gettable" game against an ageing Melbourne team that had played Cairns in Cairns only 2 nights ago. Conversely, we had pretty much an entire week to prepare for this game.

As in the past, we lack interior beef defensively and this is exposed even more when Rees is out.

Nice to see Holmes continue his consistently poor shooting perfomance this season - 3/10 from the field tonight. We need him to step up his efficiency and help Maher, Farley and Rychart, if we are going to win on the road.

Better game from Cooper. 10 points, 8 boards, 4 blocks. Played 37 minutes, far more than other games this season.

Fewer minutes for Holmes this game. Quite a few for Williams.

Killer was 13 offensive boards for Bradtke. Sixers absolutely thumped on the boards, 62-32!

I was there and the 6ers really missed Rees in the middle, particularly against Bradtke. Cooper played admirably but wasn't enough by himself. His block stats should have been higher, he managed to get 3 consecutive blocks on one play in garbage time :D

They gave up an obscene amount of offensive boards and the Tigers took them apart down the stretch.

The refs didn't do us any favors, exacerbating our lack of size by calling touch fouls for Melbourne in the paint but allowing the Tigers to grab and hold on defense every time the 6ers went to the basket in the 2nd 1/2.

Bradtke did his normal domination of the tiny 6ers front line but Dave Thomas is an MVP candidate if he keeps getting opportunities in the Tigers offense. He torched Holmes and Forman repeatedly and oddly enough it was Willie Farley that did a reasonable job on him in the last.

Jacob had another ordinary game, with nothing dropping from outside he made a few buckets in the paint but didn't contribute much.
Oscar was quiet early but went out in a flurry of scoring and fouls, some of which were definately undeserved, the last one in particular.
Brett i thought played really well but his scoring (6/18) is worse than i remember it.
