Harlem Globetrotters hold draft
On one level, I just don't get this: the Harlem Globetrotters held their own draft the other day.
How can one team hold a 'draft'? What league are they participating in? Do the Washington Generals get to pick players as well?
One of the players they took was that seven foot nine Korean dude, who's now got his own website: sevenfootnine.com.
I think my favourite part of the story is how the Globetrotters refer to themselves as 'basketball magicians', which I'm sure goes down well with immigration staff at airports:
Sinister immigration official: It says here your occupation is 'Basketball Magician'.
Globetrotter: That's right.
SIO: Define 'basketball magician'.
G: Um, I'm a basketballer who brings magic to the lives of millions.
SIO: Up against the wall, freak, and spread 'em.
*Sound of rubber glove snapping on wrist*
