I heard rumor that this was more of a recruitment drive by a DO of one of the top 4 clubs.

Wouldn't that be a smart thing to try?

No Isacc, recruiting from other clubs is not an acceptable practice.

The person they are talking about is the same person who has called 15 years old players from other clubs and offered incentives to move clubs.

I'm surprised that more clubs have not tried to stop him using these stadiums in that area due to this. Why has he not run this clinic in his area.

How is it directly recruiting? If someone offers a joint clinic to anyone, and puts a table of Norwood Flames brochures near the exit, so be it - the guys are running free clinics. No one has to take a brochure or make the move.

Every club should be doing something similar, IMO.

Of course, it's a different scenario if specific players were pressured or encouraged to switch clubs, but there's no indication that's happening is there?

Yeah you are right Isaac, they don't have to take the brochure or clinic, thats why no body went to the Sturt one on the weekend.

Isacc,
How can you prove that consdiering Rupert has no problem calling up kids to recruit them to Norwood, if a good kid at the camp talks to him that a move to Norwood wont be suggested as a good decision. Or that offers of college scholarships and free fee's, etc, etc wont be offered.
Do you think that if North were running a clinic at Hillcerst run by North coaches, that Norwood and Rupert would promote it through their club?

The onus of proof isn't on me, it's on you. You're referencing an incident separate to this clinic too, something I've only seen mentioned as an isolated incident.

The suggestion that this is primarily a recruiting tool is also just that - go and run it past Brett if you'd like, see what he says.

No, I don't think Norwood would necessarily promote a North clinic, but this isn't a North clinic, nor a Norwood clinic, right?

It's a free clinic. If you don't want to go, don't go. If you want to go and are wary of a spiel on the side, go and then leave. If clubs want to warn their players about it, that's their choice.

You could always, dare I suggest the obvious, go and raise your concerns with Rupert and stop sniping on a forum.

mmm... AND haha I think that all should be let go!

Everyone makes mistakes and I think that Sapwell has been running these camps for a few yrs. I haven't seen too many kids move over to Norwood as a result of these camps - do you have evidence of any?

I think its more than time to move on in terms of the string incidents, one of which involved Rupert, I previously discussed here and that you are referring to.

After discussions with those involved I am satisfied that NO free fees were offered in the case I highlighted and it was never stated that I believed guaranteed College scholarships were offered.

It would be great to see the Sapwell focussing their efforts on promoting our game to those currently NOT playing it though, rather than those at other clubs. Thats just my opinion though.
