Can Patrick Mills make it at the next level

Everyone rates him very highly and he is a decent PG. He is of the pass first variety and very productive and quick. But at 6'0 can he make it at the next level in the senior squad and possibly NBA?

Does anyone even know who this guy is? Does size matter? Do post's like these just get lost in all the gloss of bigger name posts?

Mills will become one of the best players to ever leave our shores. The kid is an outright stud and will be the starting PG for Australia for a long time.

So do you really think he's headed to the NBA TR? When do you think he might leave to try out? College first for him or straight into the NBA?

Not sure about the NBA, but if people like Goorj think he's a chance then I'm willing to say he has a chance.

I don't know, I haven't seen any NBA potential/calibre PGs recently in Australia to compare him with.

I've watched some SEABL games with the AIS and he is a standout PG.

He also represented ACT at the U20 States and basically owned the tournament.

David, he's heading over to play college ball this season, at the same school Dan Kickert went to (St Mary's).

He would be at least a couple of years away from the NBA and the fact that he is going to a mid-major college won't help a whole lot with his NBA chances.

But if what most people are saying about him is true, then after a couple years of working on his game playing college ball, he could definitely make it.

David,

do you know who he is? He sure scores a lot of points for someone of the 'pass first variety'.

Also you can probably leave the comma out in future "post's".

I watched Patrick against the Supercats (in the AIS home game that was transfered to Geelong)> The Supercats have been referred to as the best non NBL team currently going aroung in this forum.

All week leading up to the game Coach Leader was commenting on how the Supercats needed to counteract Patrick's speed.

They certainly did - only one flash of exceptional play from Patrick but what a play, quick drive, good elevation and air time, ball protected by rotated shoulder and craddling in to a reverse layup over Brown and Myers.

You can't wonder that all the coaching reports are going to say "makes Aaron Bruce look tall".

Wish him well and watch him develope.

*David*. Mills can score and does. Mills can pass first to help his team. Mills for a young guy has some outstanding leadership and game smarts to read what is happening and what best to run. Well worth developing.

But what is actually wrong with a pass first PG who sets up, creates and brings all 4 team mates into the game? The whole American, chuck the ball at the hoop thing makes good highlights but borders on selfish non team play.
There is a time to shoot for any PG but there is also many times down the floor when running a well executed set with the PG calling it, brings class to the game.

Mills is a wonderful player, person and has a bright future in basketball. NBA?? Who knows, pretty tough for smalls to make the league. I just hope he can help lead our boomers to our first olympic and/or world camps gold!!!

Have seen Mills play quite a bit. He is good for sure, high energy, communicates well and work ethic second to none. However not so sure he will go well at the next level against other high calibre guards. Doesn't look better than Shane McDonald who plays with Spectres let alone like of Aaron Bruce.

i don;t think he can make NBA-maybe in the next 5-6 years but when a guy like Newley is getting the cut you cant expect some guy str8 out of the ais to shine to glory
