Better late than Never ....Slingers

http://www.thewest.com.au/default.aspx?MenuID=16&ContentID=30079 .

From Ross Lewis

"In other NBL news, Singapore looks set to remain in the competition after the league lifted a default notice on the fledgling club due to outstanding debts from last season.

The move will free Singapore to sign more players. Guard Aaron Trahair, an inaugural Slinger playing in the WA SBL during the off-season, is likely to be targeted for a return. "

with what dregs of players?

Seriuosly who is left?

You would think they would run Helms again

Ben Knight
Trahair

Who is left to go after?

With Blaze taking some of the talent pool away there are going to be some teams really searching for players.

Glad the sixers are locked and loaded that is for sure.

Marcus?

A possible starting 5 of Knight , Trahair and 3 imports could be ok.

Then add some young talent with US College background plus a few young Australians playing in the NBL.Most likely some players with a background in QLD.

Marcus has been rumoured on here for a while...

Surely Singapore has a player or 2 that would be skilled enought o make the NBL.
What is their population???

IMO the NBL should have cut their loses and let the Slingers fold. What a waste of time, money and players.

A team falls into financial trouble after 1 season?

Yeah, the future looks reeeeeeeal bright down Singapore way.

What a complete waste of effort. Get the leuge working properly first; sponsors, bums on seats, sound financial position of clubs, TV deals, then look at increasing the teams, cheeez!

just an idea, in football around the world they loan players to other clubs all the time some for short periods of time others for full seasons. could this be a good situation for a young devolpment player to be loaned to the slingers for a set time to increase there devlopment?

Slingers could look at something like this:

Helms/d ng
Trahair/cedar/d moore
Chandler/reed/majstrovich
Knight/rigby
Import/rice/pero

A 3rd import would help them lots, but they could still put a competative team on the floor. What about Timmons playing there? im sure he'll go around again if offered.

remember reading about some guy from korea and iran i think last year, they where like 17 or 18 at the time and about 7'4" or something ridiculous, why not just get one of these massive guys and build around that... who would be able to compete with that height in australia?

Jason Eversteyn, 216cm (7'1"). Wasn't a guaranteed threat in the NBL. No longer in the league.
