Copeland re-signs, Ninnis to return?

SCOTT Ninnis is set to be welcomed back by his beloved Adelaide 36ers.

Dumped as an assistant coach by the South Dragons, Ninnis' is almost certain to be offered the job of heading up the Sixers' development academy.

Bauer also confirmed veteran Lanard Copeland had officially put pen to paper to play on for one more NBL season.

Great news, Ninnis seems to have a good reputation with the younger players to, so hopefully this will help us not miss out on the next Joe Ingles in the future, as wasnt Ninnis a big reason he went to the Dragons?? (maybe he can help us get him back in the future) Will Ninnis be assisting Smyth and Breheny during matches replacing KB??
Good to see Copeland coming back aswell, he is still a valuable player off the bench MIO.

DICKO said in the other thread TWICE that it was Sapwell.. guess he was wrong but I forgive him coz he was right about Ballinger and Newley

Anon,

Dicko said that the "Technical Assistant" would be Sapwell.
This looks to be more Academy related - no mention of being an "assistant" as such.

Don't write Dicko off just yet!

Yes, this looks to be solely about the Academy. No justification for trashing Dicko on that count.

Yep......the Ninnis role is NOT an assistant coach.

Oh ye of little faith.

And, by the way, Ninnis has not accepted this role yet either.

Ninnis in the running for Breakers assistant?
Interviewed this week?

You'd think Ninnis would accept the role, wouldn't you?

He's relocated his family back to Adelaide.. would be hard to move interstate (or overseas) again for anything less than a head coach position

Going backwards?

If Scott took the job as an assistant to Phil, surely this would be going backwards for him?

Ninnis will not be the assistant to Phil.

Would be a risky more as I think short of getting very good imports or one of Bradshaw/Penney/Marks, the Breakers are going to be short of the talent required to compete for the top six. In a strong field, should they not make the play-offs, their fans over there may be calling for the end of the Lemanis Experiment.

Personally, I think they sound like a great club, throw around some good money, and Lemanis does well with what he's got, but they just find recruiting that much tougher than all other teams bar Singapore.

I'm sure the Breakers could sign Dimitris Athanasiou

Contrary to previous posts (sorry).

Liam Flynn is indeed the front runner for the "Techical" 2nd Assistant position, but it is NOT a done deal. There may be someone that pops up out of left field.

Sapwell is likely to be involved with the club in some capacity as well.

The 6ers are certainly spending money recruiting some good local guys to surround Phil. Good on 'em, I say.

Oh fantastic; so every time someone has a go at the 6ers next season we can expect a "Please ring Paul Mesecke in the 6ers front office"

Should make for an interesting hoops forum season ahead.
