Apollo Floor Boards

I have a quantity of original floor boards from the old Apollo Stadium that I would like to give away. Some are in better condition than others, some still have original line markings on them.
They are not signed or framed or anything but I am sure that you can get almost all of the 86 Sixers signatures, (apart from Ken Cole but Ken does come back regularily these days)as most of the guys are now back in Adelaide.

If you would like to grab some of these then let me know and I would be happy to arrange.
You can contact me via email at
dspear@company directors.com.au

Some of the signed floor boards that we had done at our recent reunion have been sold at charity auctions from $800 to $1500 which has been great.

Wasnt it the stadium before the Dome that the 36ers used?

Sorry, showing my age.

Yes it was the venue used by the 36ers prior to The Dome. It was built back in 1969 hence the name "Apollo" around the moon landing time.

Was a great venue for basketball, one court, 3000 people, crowd was so close to the court and the floor was great to play on. I miss it...

I'll second SVD.... I was speechless when someone asked "what are the Apollo floorboards". Gotta be school holidays...

I surprised Ben Fitz doesn't take them all and redo his house with them.

His house is built from bricks - has a lot more of those. ;)

(Anyone would think that you just set that up for me!)

I have seen both of you shoot and all i can say is that you would be helping many team mates win many rebounding titles.

Isaac that goes for your dunks too.

Thats right i went there!

And just so you know i hae one hanging on the wall above my desk already.

Fitz and bricks go hand-in-hand, sort of like cookies and cream icecream. Just a good mix.

in light of Ben Fitz(?) comments, could you please confirm if these timbers are to be used for flooring or wall cladding - personally i think timber cladding for a walls went out in the 70's?

He does make a fair point - I am the worst shot in the history of basketball. Can't fight that.

See what you have done Forman , now dubs is in on the action.

Dubs cladding is in your heart, you know it , set it free.

That is iron clad.

BW, they would look great with a few signatures on them and then mounted on display on a wall in a frame behind glass. Sort of like an autographed cricket bat.

Could also use to as a great whacking stick...

There is TR and it is not pretty, kind of like your shooting style.

I leave you to chose the weapon.

David Spear if you have sold them before for $800-1500 why don't you sell them to help fund the Hoops show on Coast FM?

I have a quantity of floorboards from Pasadena stadium available that I would like to give away. Some are in better condition than others, some still have original line markings on them, others just the duct tape that was used to repair them.
They are not signed or framed or anything but many do have holes already in them to make mounting them on your wall much easier.

My choice of weapon isn't a lump of wood regardless of how many nails you can drive through it, plus if you swing as well as you shoot there would be heaps of air...

Can you run faster than 3000 feet per second?????

Next time I'm in Adelaide it's paintball time, bugger Halo, there's no pain in that unless it's watching you play.

123abc, the floor boards I am talking about are not signed etc. therefore their value is minimal. The signed floor boards that the 86 Sixers signed have only been used as chairty auction items. If I used a few of those to fund Talking Hoops that would be considered private enterprise and whilst it may be good for basketball in this state, it was not in the spirit to which these floor boards were signed by the players. Anyway, the Sixers, Lightning and BSA should shell out $2k each and get Talking Hoops back on air. They wouldn't get a better promotional vehicle for $2k each....

It that promotional vehicle or promotional tool?

Why should BSA shell out $2k? There is many things I'd consider more important BSA to spend their money on - the promotional value to them would be minimal.
