South upset North, plus other ABL results

Just got back from the South North game at Hillcrest and South won 107 to 100. South did well to beat north considering neither team played that well...South need to find a point guard or they are going to get hammered by most other teams, north didnt really exploit this tonight, they tried but didnt seem to be able capatalise on this. Anyone know why Dusty isnt playing for north at the moment? sorry if i have missed this in another post.

North couldnt throw the ball into the ocean, they were shooting at less than 20% at one point and that was mainly layups too. South shot well over 50% for the game, and tough shots most of the time.

Sturt beat Woodville 114-83. Marcus Ng had 29 at half time & 36 for the game. All Sturt players had a score.

Is he meant to shoot the ball for them as well. this loss came down to North shooting poorly and South having a night out. Still a bad loss for North, but not sure what more could have been done from the sidelines.

Burdon had 40 for North but no one else could throw the ball into the ocean. Enough said.

Not exctly DC, they also failed to stop South from shooting at an overall 53%, especially Pilkington 24 pts on 12/14 FG's (with 19 boards) and Scanlon 30 pts on 11/19 shooting.
I actually wonder whether North may have been a bit complacent coming into this game, after all South had just had three bad Home losses and had lost Machar, Smith, Carter, Ahmatt & Davies, replaced by Scanlon & 4 Juniors (who all did their bit at various times)

This game highlighted one thing about reffing that really annoys me. That is, when a player with the ball initiates contact with the defender the foul is called on the defender. This happened time and time again with Eric Burdon, which usually ended up with a bonus shot, man, can that guy shoot.

Not having a go at Burdon as he milked it for all he's worth, but the ref's interpretation of that situation needs looking at IMO.

Also of note Pilkington had 10 and 10 at the end of the first quarter. Massive performance early.

It is only one loss.....
Agree with #304, it is annoying when the defender continually gets pinged for playing good D, all because the offence deliberately moves to initiate contact. But it has been going on forever but a turnaround here IMO would create smarter playing - you'd need to use your skills to get pass rather than a cheap approach. But hey, it works so we'll all keep doing it.....

Probably as bad a game from Zorich as ive seen. On the flip side, Scanlon was awesome, the guy has hardly touched a ball for six months and comes out and does that against North!

If the defender doesn't have postition and the offensive player is smart enough to cause the foul then good on him.

What happened to the Marcus Ng haters? 36 points at 58%.

Leading the competition with 25.7 PPG.

Isaac, I must admit M Ng looks like he has the goods. However, I still don't think he is anywhere near to NBL ready, which was my point many moons ago

The same is often said of his brother, but a lot of players play reasonable NBL minutes despite deficiencies in their games (too streaky, poor defenders, too short, too weak, etc).
