Big mistake, Lightning need to sell their product as a stand alone not hang onto the men's shirt tails.
Wayville is a way better bet for the women or better still ETSA park where more can go.
Another bad season for the sixers is an ven money bet and the girls will suffer for it.

What has the Lightning playing at the Dome got to do with the Sixers?

It doesn't say they're playing double headers; they're just playing at the same venue.

As has been discussed previously Wayville is too small plus has no air conditioning.

Also please explain to me how it could be a good move for a Basketball team to play at a netball centre when we have a better facility available?

Think you'll find that they may be building their own stadium. It takes time to build

Is that the one that Marino was talking about over in Whyalla, as that is where the majority of sponsorship (outside of Quit) comes from?

All for it if they play at different times to the men but can't imagine they will.
What's a good crowd for women, a thousand at the moment so why not grow it and go ETSA park. The only reason netball SA is playing internationals at the dome is because they can put more bums on seats because of the larger following.
The lightning could develop a stronger following going by themselves marketting better and making the ETSA park home. They can seat 3 thousand I think so they have a future there and could get a better deal than from the dome

I don't think the Lightning cracked 1,000 last year, but 800-900 was a biggish crowd for them.

Numbers should be the focus - Target A) min 1000 spectators to 50% of the games and B)25% increased spectator numbers over the previous season. How do they achieve that?

Part of the answer is move to a venue that can accomodate the numbers - So Wayville is not really a viable venue, the Dome is.

Creating an atmosphere on game day is also part of the answer. Apart from non match entertainment, a venue that is less than half full is a bit of a morgue. A reasonable objective for the light. admin. is to "close up" the dome on game day so that the crowd feel like they're part of the game and are still comfortably seated.

Consitently getting 1000 people to a game? Promotion, Promotion, Promotion and then make the fans feel part of the family.

If netball can open their eyes to economic realities and adopt a basketball venue without fear of losing the credibility and integrity of their game then basketball should follow suit.
ETSA park is the right size venue for the Lightning,it is a stand alone product able to grow and develop the culture and create the cult following it needs in a central venue. Seems viable to me

i for one are looking forward to another double header it was a good night and i brought along family members who usually would not go to either games but really enjoyed the night and since have come along to not only the sixers but to lightning as well,

if marketed correctly double headers can be a blessing in disquise for both sides

The conomic realities are that both the Domeand ETSA park will cost the lightening big bucks.

If the crowds dont follow then they will lose more money.

This is the main reason why NBL and WNBL team have folded in the past.

Paying huge rents and not getting the crowds to pay for it.

Why do the girls have to be an entree for the boys?
Until they can stand on their own two feet and provide a stand alone product they will always be thought of as 'prawn cocktails'.
