Tigers Clamp Panthers in Pre-Season Derby

In a game in which defence was clearly the winner, Southern battled out a 55-48 victory over South in tonight's pre-season derby at Marion.

The game featured new lineups for both teams. The Panther fans had their first look at import Ken Carter, and also reacquainted themselves with Steve Pilkington, who has recently returned from the UK. Southern suited Ryan Franceschinis, who has transferred from the Rockets, and former 36er Brad Gerlach, whose 2006 Central ABL campaign was limited to 8 games due to injury.

55 - 48???? was this a full game?
if so both these teams will be in trouble if neither can score 60 in a game with 12 min quarters.

Apart from missing an extra 8 minutes, the rings at Marion are painfully hard. If you get any iron on the shot its going to end up in the car park or in the crowd.

Tigers went 6/18 from the fouline and probably 2/20 from the arc, this game could have easily been a blow out.

Very tough game in the paint with referees calling at least 6 charges for the game....

Ken Carter looks like he will do ok but not dominate the league, some adjustments to be made there for sure.... couldnt contain Goodenough off the dribble at all.

It will be interesting to see how they go against each other tuesday night in reserves ! My prediction would be 65 - 52 in favour of the Tigers again.

6 charges in the whole game? It was more like 6 charges per quarter. There was at least 3 in a row from end to end.

Neither team could hit shots. It could've been a blowout either way if one of the teams shots were dropping.
