When a players name is not on the scoresheet

Can someone please explain what is supposed to happen when it is discovered that a player has been playing and players name is not on the score sheet and not picked up until half time of the game by the referees? Are points supposed to be to be awarded to the other team?

That would never happen. At the start of each game the manager puts all the players names on the sheet and then the assistant coach checks this and marks all the U20 players.
This is then confirmed by the head coach.

Sturty6rs we are talking about U18's lower division one TM and one Coach and it did happen tonight at Wayville - and the refs picked it up at 1/2 time

as long as it is picked up at 1/2 time at the ticket count.

surely if the player had any impact he would have scored or fouled in teh first half and the bench would have picked it up.

otherwise the player would just be a benchie and not a real drama

after 1/2 time can not play

Happens a lot with Sturt because when you have 9,999 junior players they all look alike!

The mistake should have been picked up by the scorer as soon as the player hit the court. I'd say the scorer would have been at fault for not picking up on the mistake until half-time. As soon as the absence of the player's name on the scoresheet is noticed, the player shall not be permitted to play any further part in the game. This means they shall also not be permitted to sit on the team bench. Wouldn't like to be the team manager responsible for that!

C'mon now - we're not talking about seniors or sheep stations here.

He/She's bought a ticket, so has paid to play, just add them to the scoresheet when it's noticed..

You're truly a poor sport to stop a young player playing the game they love (and have paid to do it)...

Who would actually enforce that rule? I agree with you anon 121344, show some sportsmanship.

If you can't beat the assembled team ON the court, you don't deserve the W.

Poor kid, now every one knows that he did not score or foul in the first half. If he had the scorers would have picked it up. they then would have added his name to the sheet. Not the kids fault the team manager overlooked him.
The team sheet is often correct upto and including half time where it is then confirmed by the refs.
