Dear all,

State Trials for U/16s will go ahead but have been shifted to Starplex this weekend (17-18th February) due to the hot weather.

The time has changed slightly - training will be 2-4pm. My apologies for the late notice - all particpants will be recieving an email from June in the next hour to confirm this.

Thanks to Ricky Simpson and the staff at Starplex for accomodating us at such short notice. It is much appreicated by all!

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me on 0410 195 292

The kids and parents will be really pleased that they have to travel in the heat all that distance twice in one weekend.

No one is making them trial - if it's a problem don't go.
If it is a problem, the players and parents obviously don't have the commitment need to make the sacrifices involved with playing state anyway!!

I'm sure the players would rather travel another 20 mins (usually in in A/C car) to train in an A/C venue than bake in the other stadium.

The kids from Centrals wont! Nor will the kids from North and Norwood who would have about the same drive time.

Get a grip!!!!!!
Where do you think Starplex is ?
How about showing some commitment. What about country kids who travel for hours just to play

Thats one way the coach doesn't have to any cuts. Let the parents do it for them by not wanting to go out to starplex! If feel you this way then best you take a look at yourselves and why you want your kid in the state team.

119948, you obviously dont have a concept of State basketball and I very much doubt your kid is even involved with that kind of attitude anyway. You probably couldnt even bothered getting them out to Pt Adelaide?

What about the District kids at Centrals that have to often play at Marion/Morphett Vale/Pasadena etc. and that is just for District.

This is state trials and its a freak weather situation.

SA Country were also in this predicament recently where 40 odd degrees was forecast on one of their trial dates, they were also fortunate enough at the last minute to get to the Dome. The kids, coaches, managers, and parents came in from as far away as Broken Hill, Roxby, Pt Lincoln, Mt Gambier, KI and everywhere in between, strangely no one heard any of them complaining about 20 minutes extra in the car for a change of venue which has air conditioning - they were still prepared to go to the hot box down at Pt Adelaide and trial if that was what it took!

Country are never in a predicament because they pick the same players year in year out and select by registered mail.

I dont think it is fair to question player's commitments at under 16 level in regards to travel. Clearly at that age, they cant drive so it is up to the parents. Having said that, moving to the starplex is a sensible idea.

Im glad your tongue is firmly in cheek.

Our child went through three tough training sessions for country selection. Not to mention the training/selection sessions weeks and months prior.

We travelled for hours in the heat, country selection is no formality. Just ask the kids that missed out this year, that were selected last year.

This "country teams are a closed shop" thing is getting way old. It reeks of "chip on shoulder" Build a bridge.
