Prior to the WNBL Season all clubs were given an email not to approach King at all. No surprise you will see her at West.

Nothing like overloading the top ABL teams with WNBL players. Does wonders for the competition! Consistently the same teams in the league struggle. Why doesn't the Lightning do something to help strengthen the ABL by distributing at least one player to each team, rather than every player going to West or Forestville?? Seems rather convenient when the assistant is the head coach at West. I guess we will see a streamline through to Sturt soon as well. Good work Basketball SA!

What is the problem? West has 2 lightning players. Woosnam who has been there a while and now Lauren King. This is after losing most of their starting line up. Stop whinging.

I think that you would find that a lot of "women" play for the love of the game and don't need to be paid.

Only one of the four west lightning players is a west junior so I don't quite get your point booga - this is a bit like players going to sydney kings so they can play for Australia

I think its a shame that the 'new' WNBL players can't be shared around to the local clubs in a similar way that AFL players are with the SANFL clubs.
I was talking to a coach the other day who expressed their disgust at the fact that coaches are asked by Lightning management not to speak with any players about ABL before a certain date with a view to securing their services, and how only the coaches who respected those wishes were the ones who missed the opportunity to have WNBL players sign on. What incentive is there for coaches/clubs to do as they are asked when this is the case?

Becasue it is the best interests of the Lightning to have their players play for a club that they think will develop their players how they like.

The clubs no longer have any control over 36ers and Lightning players.

IF they choose, the lightning can stop all of their players from playing finals if they want to go on a pre-season development trip.

Anon 313 You are wrong, no they cant as know the Association does own the 36ers or Lightning players have to get a clearance both ways. To the National leagues and then back to ABA. So once they are cleared back to the ABA the National Leagues can not touch them until they are cleared back to them. However they can choose not to allow them to play ABA in the 1st case but that would be stupid as they'll just sit around for 6 months and do nothing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe King, Woosnam, Jenner or Smith are West juniors...Woosnam, and I'm pretty sure Jenner are both Woodville juniors
